We were delighted these travellers found the game-viewing and guiding at at Sayari so good. However, we were not at all happy to read their low ratings and hear about their experiences with the camp staff. The owners of Sayari responded to Expert Africa about these comments and they noted that strong winds and rain on their first night made the dining experience difficult. The doors should not have been left open and they sincerely apologised for the food served cold and the white wine served warm. They stated (and Expert Africa agrees) that these flaws are not the hallmarks of a typical stay at Sayari and they greatly regret not providing a better experience for these guests. They took their negative comments very seriously and brought up the issues with the team at Sayari to improve their future performance.

We were pleased to hear that these travellers found the hotel attractive and that they enjoyed the rooftop dinner. However, we were very disappointed to note that they found it run-down. This was a great surprise to us at Expert Africa, as Emerson on Hurumzi has long been considered one of the finest traditional-style hotels in Stone Town. The hotel responded to this feedback to say they sincerely apologised for the poor impression received by these guests. During the pandemic, they told us, room occupancy was low, and while upgrades were rolling out in all the rooms, this was not the case in the room these guests stayed in. They greatly regretted that fact and were looking forward to all rooms being upgraded.
