My Feb 2022 trip
Kenya between 27 Feb 2022 and 11 Mar 2022
"We have enjoyed many safaris, several with Expert Africa but also with upmarket competitors.
We were delighted with the way that Richard Trillo listened to what we wanted and then shaped a trip to meet these criteria.
We would strongly recommend booking with Richard for anyone going to Kenya."

"So glad Richard Trillo encouraged us to go to Maasai Mara and to Tangulia. It is great it is Maasai owned and run so very different from monster chain hotel camps. The owner, Jackson Looseye is amazing, expert friendly, sophisticated, worth a visit just to meet him.
Drive from the landing strip was a safari in itself with our great guide Benjamin. The camp has wonderful views over the green river valley, spent an hour just watching giraffes graze, there were always animals to watch from our terrace. Tent and location great.
The game and the birds are amazing here, we have enjoyed many safaris but this location had almost everything.
Good staff, and food a lot of care, breakfasts and sundowners by the river.
The walk and visit to the local village was a great experience, not to be missed. Very friendly if sobering."

"Very different to Maasai Mara, much dryer and very quiet, a good contrast.
Again, what we wanted, a small remote camp with great guides and no gold taps frills.
Tent and terrace good. Food was excellent, the best of the trip. A good meal plan of brunch and supper, plenty. Owner was not there but the Deputy Manager, Kenneth was delightful. All staff were good.
Great guiding and birding with Dan, ex Zimbabwe guide. The night spent under the stars after a camp fire supper was wonderful, strongly recommend if you like camping."

Il Ngwesi Eco-Lodge

"Small private flight to get there from Laikipia.
Again a lovely location with hills in the distance and the dry river course in front of the camp, great location .
An amazing banda, built in old tree structure, and at views, very large. It needs some repairs as the floorboards have loose protruding planks.
Did not like being asked to sign a form absolving them form any liability for anything; we did not do so, but have never had this before and not the start you want.
Food was OK, our best meal was when we asked them to cook us a typical Kenyan lunch.
Guide Steve, was local and very good and friendly.
Again good birding, rhinos, have to look for the game but worth coming here for the different experience.
The pool is lovely and makes this a good place to slow down a bit after busy safari.
Again a great visit to the local village, to be recommended.
The management at this camp was almost invisible and it was the only camp where one or two of the staff were grumpy, most were not."
