My Aug 2022 trip
Tanzania between 20 Aug 2022 and 5 Sep 2022
The trip was put together over a series of calls and discussions, met all our criteria and was a great success.
We had one slight hitch with charges for a walking and night safari which Lyndsey sorted immediately, the wonders of e mail.

Maybe make it clear that you will be guided through the many flight changes by Coastal, it was a bit daunting but they made it easy"

Amazing concentration of wildlife in the dry season"
Lemala Ngorongoro
"Lemala Ngorongoro review"
They need to regulate the safari companies to keep the cowboys out, they are damaging the site and harming the wildlife with very aggressive driving and ignoring the rules for the crater.
It is cold at the camp! We were told but it was colder than we expected.
Loved the hot water bottles and the talking shower."
Lake Manyara Safari
"Lake Manyara Safari review"
24 Aug 2022 • All-day excursion
It has also been damaged by the actions of the local farmers, leading to agricultural run off silting the lake and polluting nitrates.
It also is much more commercial than Oliver’s Camp, which is where we came from, and was a disappointment.
I wouldn’t recommend it.
Safari in Ngorongoro Crater
"Safari in Ngorongoro Crater review"
25 Aug 2022 • All-day excursion
The only adverse comment is that the safari companies are not regulated and there are some cowboys operating in the crater, ignoring the rules for driving, speed and crowding the animals.
Easily solved by licensing knowledgeable guides ( as ours was) and enforcing the rules.
Lemala Mara-Ndutu
"Lemala Mara-Ndutu review"
The camp is excellent. My only criticism is that it was a long drive down a very bumpy road to get to the game areas, maybe 40 minutes each way. Staff were really friendly and good.
Our van was near end of life and did breakdown on one occasion. Visibility wasn’t as good as we had hoped, it was a pop up van rather than the open sided that we had requested."
Pole Pole
"Pole Pole review"
Diving was good, our first experience of muck diving and some really weird wildlife. The water was colder than expected.
Food was great, if you ordered all the courses it was way to much, took us a few meals to work out that we should scale back and share some courses.
Whale shark trip was a great success, with an added bonus of humpback whales! Amazing."
Fabulous trip
Tanzania and 1 other country between 18 Jun 2018 and 4 Jul 2018
Feedback response
We are really glad to hear that this traveler had such a good time on safari, and that he enjoyed his time in the Selous, although it is disappointing that the conditions were not good for diving on Zanzibar in June. We understand that diving is possible on Zanzibar in June, however it can be unpredictable and whether you can dive or not depends on the wind conditions and also your specific location on the island. In June the wind blows hard from south to north and so anywhere on Zanzibar that is exposed from that wind direction will struggle to offer predictable diving at that time of the year.

An amazing experience with lovely staff and great service."
Unguja Lodge
"Could have been good...with better weather "
The rooms are spectacular and lovely. We had booked two cottages, one for our children and had specified twin beds. Unfortunately they only had double beds. We managed but not ideal. There is a very rough and basic wooden framed “bedroom” which has been built on the roof of the main bedroom. This was not suitable for habitation.
Restaurant good, staff very nice"
We spoke to Unguja about the bed situation, and whilst twin beds are possible here, the lodge had set up a second bed in the upstairs loft which turned out to not offer the same level of comfort as the main bedroom. Unguja has told us that it is possible to arrange the main bedroom with two separate beds, and we apologise for the lack of clarity in this situation.
