My Aug 2018 trip
Rwanda between 5 Aug 2018 and 9 Aug 2018
"Learning about Rwanda was as important and valuable as seeing gorillas and monkeys.
A fine combination of powerful experiences.
Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:
Tell people to do monkeys before (not after) gorillas, as a warm up.
In my case two gorilla days instead of one was very good, but of course that's even more money.
My guide/driver was Bram. He was excellent. Always polite, helpful, knowledgable, prompt, flexible. Many thanks to him."

Golden Monkey Trekking

Beautiful animals. Telephoto needed.
This is a good "warm up" before the more arduous gorilla treks.

Gorilla Trekking Safari

I went to gorillas on two successive days, and did the monkeys before that to become adjusted to the altitude. I recommend monkeys first, gorillas second for this reason.
My two days were very different. Day 1 we trekked 3 hours as the group had moved, and climbed 2000 ft to 10250 ft. V tiring! Then we saw a few gorillas, one or two at a time.
Day 2 I was "awarded" an easier trek. It was: just a third of the distance. And we got to see three times as many gorillas too. Most thrilling was family groupings of up to six at once, and a 3 month baby.
One person had injured her foot earlier, and was carried up by four porters on a stretcher. It worked very well.
We saw buffalo poop and hoofprints, but we saw no buffalo. There was arranger with a gun just in case.

See yesterday's comments.
Excellent
It gets cool at night: 50 degrees F. Get extra wood for your fire. The hot water bottle helps!
Take off a couple of layers before you set out on your trek: it gets warm soon."
