My Apr 2009 trip
Namibia between 22 Apr 2009 and 8 May 2009
Superb people with a wicked sense of humour.
Scenery some of the best we have experienced anywhere in the world with much of it surrounding the excellent lodges.
Suggestions for improvement:
None - I would certainly recommend Expert Africa."

Sam's Giardino
"Sam's Giardino review"
We should not have worried. Sam's was a real home from home and in the short time we were there (2 nights) were made to feel extremely welcome - we were sad to leave!
Sam goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble for him to organise - restaurants, taxi's, confirmation of activities etc
It was great to join Sam both before and after dinner for a glass of wine - tapping into his excellent knowledge of the subject.
As for Sam's 'best friend' - his dog Ornella, if only she was small enough to smuggle into our luggage!
We could not recommend this place highly enough and for a couple who love to travel we have seen the good and bad of a lot of places! Breakfast was excellent by the way.
Kayaking excursion to Pelican Point - Whatever you do - do not miss this unbelievable experience of being so close to nature via this excellent activity. The chance to be so close to dolphins and baby seals is one that will live for us for the rest of our lives.
The best activity we did on the whole holiday.
The whole activity was superbly run by Jeanne whose relaxed laid back approach added to the whole experience."

Mowani Mountain Camp
"Mowani Mountain Camp review"
Sun downer drinks from their viewpoint were unbelievable."

Hobatere Lodge
"Hobatere Lodge review"
A great introduction to wildlife prior to Etosha."

Halali Camp
"Halali Restcamp review"
Unfortunately, we were disappointed with a number of aspects of Halali - in particular the food and attitude of some of the staff. The food was quite clearly wheeled out again from the previous evening with most items being barely passable for consumption. A shame because basic food can still be done well with a bit of care and effort.
On the plus side the one bedroom chalet was very clean and functional and the waterhole was a joy of an evening.
We visited both of the government run rest camps during our stay and from what we saw would stay next time at Namutoni which appeared to have far more character and better facilities.
We would have gone on one of the night drives but felt that that 3 hours was too long after a full day of viewing game."

Okonjima Plains Camp
"Okonjima Main Camp review"
Superb setting, fantastic activities, stunning rooms, excellent food.
Cannot praise this establishment high enough with the wonderful work they do for the welfare of cats via the Africat Foundation being the icing on the cake."

Ondudu Safari Lodge
"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"
Experienced problems with no hot water despite assurances that this would be resolved.
Sun downer drinks venue and food excellent though."
He said that these travellers were allocated the lowest room which has the least view. Erongo usually allocates this room last and often to guests staying only one night. They allocate the higher rooms, with more extensive views, to guests who stay for more than one night. These guests were staying only one night and the lodge was full with guests staying longer.
Roger acknowledged that they did experience a problem with the electricity on that row of tents on the morning of the 7th May when these travellers where attempting to shower prior to departing. A short circuit in one of the rooms caused the main circuit breaker to trip. This was not detected until it was pointed out by one of the other guests. The problem was resolved immediately after being detected; however this loss of power would have caused the geyser not to re-heat the water (as it is set on a timer). Once the timer is overridden the geyser usually only takes 20 minutes to heat the water.
Roger offered their sincere apology to these travellers for any inconvenience caused by the lack of hot water on their final morning.
Views from the dining room and outside seating area were stunning.
More could have been made of the outside seating area of a night to be able to admire the clarity of the outstanding night sky. As a result everybody tended to congregate inside of an evening.
Walking trail was enjoyable. The ability to fly down to the lodge was a big plus as not only did it save two days travelling there and back but also afforded you stunning views from the plane."
