My Jan 2015 trip
Namibia between 19 Jan 2015 and 29 Jan 2015
There was a good balance between seeing animals, seeing different landscapes and experiencing different parts of Namibia.
Even the rain and lightning was something we will not forget."
Arranged By Sabina Hekandjo

Galton House
"Galton House good alternative"

Okonjima Plains Camp
"Amazing leopards at Okonjima"
However, the highlight was the drive to see the leopards. We saw 5, an amazing experience. The next morning we went on a drive to see the cheetahs and visit the Africat Centre.
Again, a wonderful experience. Our guide on both drives, Peter, was excellent."

Ongava Lodge
"Ongava Lodge and Etosha"
It was great looking at the animals coming to the waterhole either from the dining area or from our bedroom. We saw giraffes, a rhino and a number of different types of antelope. One of our party woke at 6 and saw a lion.
The staff were very helpful and the manager and his wife an excellent source of knowledge.
We did not go on any activities because we wanted to drive around Etosha. This was a fantastic experience. Driving ourselves was easy and gave us the chance to see animals and birds in a more natural setting than a game reserve."

Doro Nawas
"Lightning at Doro Nawas"
It was the birthday of one of the guests and all the staff sang a number of songs. They provided a cake which they shared with all the guests. The staff made it a wonderful evening.
The rain was the first for 2/3 years.
One improvement would be to provide mosquito nets. Although it is a low risk malaria area there were lots of creepy crawlies and nets would have helped in ensuring a good night's sleep."

Cornerstone Guesthouse
"Delightful Cornerstone Guesthouse"
The rooms are well-appointed and comfortable. Each room has a verandah overlooking well-kept gardens, ideal for a drink before dinner."

Sossus Dune Lodge
"Magical experience at Sossus Dune Lodge"
We ate on the terrace of the dining area under the stars.
On the first evening we drove ourselves to Dune 45 to watch the sun setting. We were the only 4 people there. It was a beautiful sight in the silent desert. The next morning we joined a drive to Sossusvlei to watch the sun rise over the dunes, a magical experience. It was rounded off by breakfast under a tree. The guide, Stephen, had laid it out most beautifully, even including a tablecloth.
Our only criticism was the odd requirement to pay for each days' expenses at the end of that day, rather than at the stay as happened everywhere else. This was a nuisance especially since dinner was not included."

Elegant Guesthouse
"Elegant Guesthouse is elegant"
She arrived early to ensure that we were able to have breakfast before we left.
The rooms have wifi, very useful after being out of range for a couple of days and gave us the opportunity to check our flight status."
It is on the edge of Windhoek, a bit far out and therefore a taxi is needed or you need to drive into Windhoek. It is convenient for travelling out to the north."
