our may/june trip 2014
Botswana and 1 other country between 30 May 2014 and 14 Jun 2014
there were few problems, mostly related to transfers, e.g. we spent an hour at kasane airport looking for our transfer and were about to phone when someone turned to take us to the border; and you can't control the weather which sent us and the wildlife looking for warmer shelter
it was worthwhile thinking about, planning and researching for 3 years, going with an open mind not a tick-list
We've never ever been so well looked after, still in shock having to think, plan and take care of ourselves and others
have already recommended your services to others we met on the trip, we really appreciate the time and patience you have shown, I would do it again but I know Richard has a long list of places to visit before we repeat. thank you so much
Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:
I think you are doing all you can, a pity you can't sort out airport security"

Thamalakane River Lodge

Savute Safari Lodge
"great safari at savuti safari lodge"
can't fault the service, caring, personalised without being overbearing, genuine and well informed
game drives brilliant, learnt so much from the encyclopaedical knowledge of our guide, Metal
Lesley was totally overwhelmed to have her retirement acknowledged at the final evening meal with the candlelit table for 2, dancing and singing, cake with candles.......at best we thought we might get a nice room, I'd always joked I'd love a surprise party, but thought I'd be ready for it, but was totally caught out by it (Boi was so sweet about my reaction)"

"little kwara review"
despite the shaky start the staff here were great, I remember O a waitress especially for her lovely smile and quiet ways
our guide Wago and tracker Mike always did their best for us, following a roaring lion and battling the elements on a cold, windy mokoro ride
our room had everything we needed except central heating (joke) which would have been great during a 48 hour cold/windy spell, we wish we'd learnt a day earlier we could close up more of the windows"

Lebala Camp
"great safari at lebala camp"
food here was the best of everywhere, thanks to the ever smiling Mr Gee who clearly loves his work
game drives with BallyRaja and Mr Mo were fun filled exciting and varied, night drives in particular. it was obvious they care and love their work...the concern for the damage done to the few remaining ancient baobob trees and possible solutions out of their remit, the welfare of the wild dog packs, the sightings themselves. felt safe and confident with them both, from the hippo next to the tent to the puncture in the dark when following a jackal"

Ilala Lodge
"ilala lodge review"
food at breakfast and evening meals were excellent, though could be improved by warm plates when serving cooked breakfast and the coffee not so good if you went to eat later, shame as it's lovely when hot and fresher
location is very good, but it's marred by street sellers as soon as you leave the lodge area. we were harassed every time and did not explore the town or eat out as a result, and were warned it was not safe to do so after sunset. the tourist police are around but hardly effective. on our second day we were returning from our only shopping trip at elephant walk when I tripped and fell after being distracted by a seller's hands/products in front of my face, resulting in cuts, bruises and damaged glasses. we were very close to the lodge who were very concerned, offered medical help which I didn't need and a tourist police escort if we wanted to go out anywhere!
we then booked an extra tour to the crocodile farm which was very interesting, and later did the sunset cruise which gave us some good final game sightings"
room was very dark so used our torch to locate items in our cases, bed comfy, strange not to have a door to bathroom entrance, did not use outside shower as full of dead leaves, used the immense bath instead which is great but Lesley could have done with a step up to get in and out more easily due to restricted left leg movement
evening meal good and lots to choose from
informed our transfer flight was 07.40 so needed to leave at 07.00, but breakfast served from 06.30, but when we got there the staff were just arriving. they put out some fruit for us and provided juice and coffee after 20 minutes, but we had to rush off as toast was brought. we got to the airport to discover our flight was not due for over an hour, so just waited"
