Tarangire Safari: picture gallery

Tarangire Safari Lodge is set on the edge of an escarpment within Tarangire National Park
It has 35 spacious canvas-and-thatch safari tents...
...each with a small shaded veranda in front...
...and a comfortable double bed...
...or twin beds inside.
There are no frills but it is perfectly adequate.
In the back, there's a stone-walled bathroom, including a dressing room.
Beside this, the Lodge has a few family bungalows built from local stone.
Inside, they are light and airy, complete with one single and one double bed...
...and may also accommodate a rollaway bed.
There are large walk-in showers in en-suite bathrooms.
The lodge's main facilities include an open-sided lounging area...
...with an outdoor patio, overlooking Tarangire River which boasts tremendous views.
Enjoy sundowners overlooking the park.
The lounge is furnished with cushioned armchairs, made from old Zanzibari dhows...
...and includes a small library...
...and a bar, serving local beers and cocktails.
Next to the lounge, there's a separate dining area...
...where meals can be enjoyed under a high thatched roof.
The lodge's serves international cuisine, often buffet-style, cooked from local ingredients.
There is also a sparkling blue swimming pool outside to cool off after a hot day in the park.
....which is particularly well suited to families.
The lodge gets quite busy at times, but it's affordable, and its location is fantastic.
