Oliver's Camp: video gallery

Oliver's Camp: picture gallery

Oliver's Camp stands on a sandy ridge in the south-east of Tarangire National Park.
The camp faces west towards the Tarangire River.
It has fifteen comfortable safari tents.
The standard guest tents are spacious and well thought-out.
Family guest tents are much larger and have two bathrooms.
The tents are all spacious and airy...
... they have a writing desk in one corner ...
... and an en-suite bathroom at the far end ...
...with eco-chemical flush toilets...
...and the option of indoor or open-air showers (the bucket is decorative!).
Outside each tent is a veranda complete with some comfortable recliners.
The swimming pool is a welcome addition…
…and is often the location for lunch.
The main area is a thatched, two-storey structure...
... with an open sided lounge ...
... where you can find plenty of interesting artifacts and a selection of books.
Meals are normally eaten communally...
... and friendly staff are on hand to offer you a refreshing drink.
There is a viewing deck laid out with directors chairs...
... which is often where breakfast is served ...
... and this is a great spot to watch wildlife over the surrounding plain.
In the evening guests gather around the fire to swap safari stories.
Activities focus on expertly guided 4WD game drives.
Tarangire is famed for its elephants, which occur singly or in large herds.
It is a fantastic park, with vast swaths of open savannah, and plenty of plains game.
You may also be lucky to spot some of the predators present in the area.
Above all, the southern side of the park, around Oliver's, is a really remote wilderness area.
