Black Pepper Beach Holiday: Day-by-day
More detailed information of what each day entails, and the various places you’ll stay on the Black Pepper Beach Holiday. Everything we do is completely tailor-made so while this is an idea which works well, we’ll always design an itinerary just for you.
Starts: Dar es Salaam International Airport
After collecting your luggage, you’ll be met by a local representative for the five-minute shuttle transfer to the Domestic Terminal.
Dar es Salaam to Pemba by air, road & sea
From Dar es Salaam International Airport, you'll board a 1–1½-hour light-aircraft flight for Pemba, usually touching down in Zanzibar and sometimes changing planes. From the airport it takes 1½ hours to Fundu Lagoon: an air-conditioned drive across this rural island to Mkoani, followed by a boat transfer to the lodge.
Fundu Lagoon
Fundu Lagoon is a beautiful and peaceful beach lodge, set into a tropical forest on the west side of Pemba Island. Part of the Zanzibar archipelago, the rural island of Pemba is one of Zanzibar Island's close neighbours, yet in comparison it sees very little tourism. As a result, it is relatively untouched and offers the visitor a more remote beach experience.

Fundu Lagoon has a reputation as a honeymoon destination. It is true, the location is romantic, but the atmosphere is fun meaning a stay at Fundu is very sociable, and non-honeymooners will certainly not feel left out. After sharing activities during the day, most guests end up chatting at the bar before dinner. See our full report on Fundu Lagoon
