Ruaha National Park

Ruaha is Tanzania’s largest national park.

It offers guided walking safaris...

...where you might spot some of the park’s fantastic birdlife...

...as well as a good amount of wildlife.

Ruaha is known for its dramatic scenery, including rolling hills...

...and open plains with skeletal baobab trees.

Ruaha’s wild and untrammelled feel sets it apart from other reserves.

"A wonderful safari and an excellent holiday"

I visited Tanzania and 2 other countries between 6 Oct 2016 and 23 Oct 2016
"Our trip was truly wonderful. We had an amazing safari in Botswana a few years ago, but this beat it, both in terms of the range of game we saw and the quality of the accommodation.

Everything went like clockwork, it was very relaxing but also an intense safari experience.

Our final week on the Zanzibar beach at Pongwe Beach Hotel was the ultimate in exotic pampered chilling out - very informal and laid back with just the right mix of excellent service, great food, and wow location.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

As everything worked so well, and the advice we were given was so good, I can't think of anything to improve it - just keep it up!" Read full review: 17 nights in Africa; 8 on a Tanzania safari

"My Sep 2016 trip"

I visited Tanzania between 18 Sep 2016 and 28 Sep 2016
"superb - can't wait to go back. However, with 4 nights in a camp I would take a morning off the game drives next time to have a lie-in and a break from being windswept in the open vehicle!

Walking safaris and boat trips definitely added an extra dimension." Read full review: 10 nights in Africa; 9 on a Tanzania safari

"Fantastic Safari experience"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 14 Sep 2016 and 5 Oct 2016
"One of the best safaris we have had. Everything worked like clockwork. No problems and no hiccups.

We saw lots and lots and especially wildebeest which was the main reason for the trip. The accommodation was great (except Ngorongoro which was just not our style), and all the guides were excellent.

We could not have asked for more and were very happy." Read full review: 21 nights in Africa; 16 on a Tanzania safari

"Tanzania trip September 2016"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 14 Sep 2016 and 26 Sep 2016
"A very well thought out trip for which we received excellent advice from Expert Africa (James Denny). In particular, the order of visiting the camps was perfect in that, had we visited Mwagusi first the sheer volume of game in Ruaha may have led us to be a little disappointed in Selous. That said, our guide at Impala Camp was truly outstanding in that we saw more than others staying at the same time due to his patience and desire that we understood the animal behaviour. By spending time observing the animals with him, we saw the full story of a lion kill from them first being alerted to a wounded wildebeest to the kill itself and the subsequent family hierarchy in action for the "feast". Often we were the only observers of significant wildlife events which made it very special.

In addition the choice of camps suited us much better than, for example, the Serengeti. We wanted quiet and remote and that is exactly what we got, combined with plenty of wildlife action. A nice bonus is that both camps were better than we had expected, from facilities to food to service.

"Great time in Tanzania"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 2 Sep 2016 and 13 Sep 2016
"We had a wonderful holiday, with lots of variety. Both camps we stayed in were excellent and offered different game viewing experiences.

Stone Town provided a completely different 'town' experience, while Chumbe was the perfect place for relaxation. Staff everywhere we stayed were first-class.

All our connections worked perfectly. Many thanks to Liz for organising everything so competently." Read full review: 11 nights in Africa; 8 on a Tanzania safari

"My Aug 2016 trip"

I visited Tanzania between 29 Aug 2016 and 7 Sep 2016
"An outstanding trip. We may have been lucky in having both camps almost to ourselves but even without this I am sure we would have had the unhurried, individually tailored and thoughtful introduction to safari that we were looking for.

All arrangements worked well, any unexpected issues were dealt with quickly and with no fuss, and overall we had confidence that we could get on with enjoying ourselves." Read full review: 9 nights in Africa; 9 on a Tanzania safari

I visited Tanzania between 28 Aug 2016 and 8 Sep 2016
"Fabulous holiday. Everything went to plan. All our pick ups and being met at various times went well - no worries about finding anyone.

Camps we chose suited us and we enjoyed both equally for different reasons." Read full review: 11 nights in Africa; 10 on a Tanzania safari

"Tanzanian eclipse safari"

I visited Tanzania between 28 Aug 2016 and 5 Sep 2016
"We went for the eclipse, as much as the safari and we were not disappointed on either front.

The itinerary was perfect with a mix of what felt an authentic bush safari experience and a dash of more luxury towards the end. We found were were more comfortable with the bush than anything else & that was a wonderful revelation.

Expert Africa (Liz in particular) were a remarkably efficient and knowledgeable team - questions were answered swiftly, despite booking flights outside of Expert Africa, they were still happy to help me negotiate flight changes with my agent......over & above.

Other questions were also answered swiftly, and the one 'problem' was dealt with quickly & professionally.

"Got my monies worth"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 26 Aug 2016 and 10 Sep 2016
"Decided on this trip because I wanted to see a solar eclipse for my 60th birthday . I was utterly pleased with all the resorts, safari camps and flights arranged by Expert Africa.

The only thing I would have changed would have been to spend less time at the beach in the beginning and more time snorkeling in Zanzibar at the end. Having said that I don't think that could have been arranged as no one could have changed the timing of the eclipse or my international flights.

This was my first time using Expert Africa and won't be my last. I have been to the African Continent 7 times using other agents at another agency but my new favorite is Ellie with Expert Africa.
