Room types at Roho ya Selous
Family Tent - 4 pax
The family tent is the same size as the double tents but is spacious enough to accommodate a family of five - the footprint of the tents is 60m² inside. The main bedroom is a more compact version of that of the double tents, with an evening breeze cooling system over the bed, fan, reed walls, and slate floors. There is a main bathroom with a flush toilet and outdoor shower. The children's room has a shower and basin, and has a bunk bed and single bed, accommodating up to three children. Due to the layout, the beds in the children's room do not have evening breeze cooling system.
Guest Tent - 2 pax
Roho ya Selous’ eight tents are tucked away into the trees and set far apart to maximise privacy. They are stylish and spacious, measuring an impressive 60m² inside. Thoughtful details include an evening breeze cooling system over the bed to allow you to sleep peacefully even during the hotter months, and an en-suite bathroom complete with indoor and outdoor shower. Twin and triple configurations are also available on request.
Activities at Roho ya Selous
Boating safaris
No safari in Nyerere is complete without a trip on the water. Enjoy morning or evening boating safaris from Roho ya Selous, and cruise alongside pods of hippo in the shallows and spot crocodile sunning themselves on the sandbanks. Don’t forget your binoculars either — boating safaris offer wonderful birdwatching opportunities as you drift up close to nesting colonies.
Catch and release fishing
Spend a relaxing afternoon on the boat and try your hand at a spot of catch-and-release fishing. The waters in Nyerere National Park teem with many species of fish, including a variety of catfish and the sought-after tiger fish. At Roho ya Selous, we have all the equipment you need. All that’s left to do is cast your line, sit back and see what happens.
Game drives
From verdant swamps and palm-fringed rivers to miombo woodland and open plains, the landscapes of Nyerere National Park (formerly known as the Selous) are beautiful for game drives. Rise with the birds and enjoy an early-morning exploration, or head out in the afternoon and see what you can find before returning for dinner. All our game viewing vehicles at Roho ya Selous are opensided for an uninterrupted view of the flora and fauna, and come complete with a shade roof, charging points and cooler boxes to keep sundowner drinks deliciously cool.
