Luxury Camping
Intimate and stylish, the Selous Impala Camp hosts 8 en-suite tents, 2 of which can accommodate small families. Powered by the majestic sun, our camp is consciously run on solar power.Activities at Impala Camp
Boat Safaris
Boat safaris take place on the Rufiji and in the cluster of lakes coming off the river, where animals come down to drink. Powerful flat-bottomed boats are skilfully manoeuvred by trained boatmen who are also talented guides.
Fishing
Fishing for tiger fish and catfish is enjoyed in the Selous. There is a small extra Selous Reserve Fishing fee to pay - USD 20 per rod per session. Guests go out on a boat safari with a special fishing guide and the camp stocks the rods and equipment.
Fly camping
Fly camping is when a special little camp is set up for maximum 4 people (in the same group) with bush shower and loo. There is a 6 man staff which includes a guide and an armed ranger as well as a chef, to look after the guests and the camp is usually on the shores of Lake Siwandu. All food is cooked in a bush kitchen. Game drives and walking safaris are conducted from the flycamp.
Game Drives
Game drives go out from the camp with no more than 4 people in a comfortable 4x4 vehicle with a guide. A typical example would be a morning game drive leaving early and stopping for a bush breakfast then returning to camp in time for lunch. Its also possible to go out for a whole day, returning in the evening for dinner.
Walking safaris
Walking is conducted by a special guide as well as an armed Selous Reserve Ranger and usually takes place from the camp - it is subject to permission and may not be allowed if there has been recent rain and the bush is too thick for safety. Children must be at least 16 years old to participate.
