Lupita Island Lodge: picture gallery

Lupita Island is reached via speedboat from the mainland.
Lupita's 13 cottages are dotted across the island, all with an individual design.
They are open sided, looking out over the lake...
...all are unique and very spacious.
All of the cottages have king size four poster beds...
...which are handmade on the island.
The twin room in the Livingstone Suite is perfect for children.
There is antique furniture and plenty of character throughout.
The bathrooms have the same rustic style, with huge waterfall showers.
Each cottage has an open air bathtub...
...and private plunge pool.
The main area is an imposing thatched building...
...with plenty of cosy corners...
...and eclectic seating and furniture.
There is a large deck for relaxing and some meals...
...a bar area with music playing in the evenings...
...and a mezzanine floor perfect for sundowners.
The dining area is to the side and entered between two tusk-like totem poles.
The main lodge pool has a swim up bar...
...or guests can head back down to the bottom of the island...
...where there is a small beach, beach bar and plenty of activity equipment.
Lupita has a gym with picturesque views across the lake.
Head out in the afternoon on one of the island's boats...
...perhaps to a neighbouring island and secluded beach...
...or kayak and snorkel...
...or just relax enjoying the beauty of Lake Tanganyika.
