"A great place to stay for the Falls"

2 nights Arrived 26 Aug 2015
"The Falls Guest House is very good, but gets only 4 Stars because of two problems which should be easy to fix - (1) guests should not need a degree in hydraulic engineering to make the shower work. They know about this, and we were given the instructions about which taps to turn on, in which sequence, etc, but still success resulted in only a warm dribble.... (2) reception appears to be rarely manned

There is no evening meal, but a BBQ can be ordered, which is very good. Apart from the shower, the room was excellent, with a full kitchen if you prefer self catering.

Two small niggles, but a great place to stay, right next to the short road to Augrabies Falls National Park. Their catch-phrase is absolutely correct - More Than Just a Waterfall. The park is extensive and very beautiful.

I don't know how you'd arrange it to be there when the Orange is in full flood, but the sight and sound must be awesome. At other times, enjoy the park and the Rock Hyraxes" See all these reviews: 13n in South Africa

"One Meerkat Safari !"

2 nights Arrived 16 Feb 2015
"We arrived a little weary after a long drive having negotiated Upington which had no signs for Augrabies N.P.. The G.H. Is set in beautiful gardens which are well tended and watered ( no water shortage in this area) A big contrast to the arid Kgalagadi.

The receptionist was very pleasant and told us all about the G.H. And it's facilities but then she told us they no longer offered evening meals ( one of the reasons E.A had directed to this G.H.) she advised us that they could supply meats and prepared salads.

Our room was very nice with king size bed, good en suite showers with lots of fluffy towels and a kitchen area. The kitchen area was equipped with fridge, electric kettle plent of crockery, glasses etc but just a small microwave for cooking. The was a braii for our use outside our room.

As we were coming to the end of our holiday we did not want to BBQ as we did not want to have to purchase wood etc. We explained our dilemma to the the receptionist who kindly offered to cook the steaks we had ordered for us.

The steak was cooked to perfection and we enjoyed them together with jacket potato and the salads we had chosen sitting on the terrace outside our room. As usual the portions were huge and provided us with a picnic for our trip into the Augrabies N.P..

Our second night at the Fall G.H. we had a good meal in the restaurant in the N.P. The N.P. closes at 18.00 for non residents but if you have a restaurant booking you may go in after19.00 which gives you an opportunity to see the illuminated Falls.
It is worth noting that the Falls are illuminated but all the walkways are in pitch dark so it is a necessity to have a good torch..

Should we decide to revisit the Augrabies Falls we would, most likely, choose to stay in the Park accommodation which has recently under a complete revamp and looked (from the outside) to be much like the place we had stayed in the Kgalagadi N.P." See all these reviews: 12n in South Africa

"The Falls"

2 nights Arrived 14 Feb 2009
"This was our choice and can be recommended.

Accommodation was excellent - we had 3 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms to choose from. Breakfast was delivered to our fridge and we made this ourselves and then left the washing up. Full kitchen and living room also. Swimming pool can be used and we had private terrace outside our room..

Secure parking and at the end of the road into Augrabbies Park. A couple of restaurants within a short drive. Business like welcome but friendly." See all these reviews: 10n in South Africa
