Gishwati Lodge: Our full report
Gishwati Lodge looks set to be an extremely exciting addition to Rwanda's tourist industry.
Situated in the newly formed Gishwati-Mukura National Park, a good proportion of the profits made from this camp will go towards conservation of the area and its wildlife. The lodge was originally planned for an opening in 2018, but we understand that talks are still in progress with the Rwandan Development Board to finalise plans, and that construction has not yet commenced. We will update our information accordingly when we have news on this development.Gishwati Lodge is still very much an idea in creation. We'll continue to keep up to date with the developments of this lodge - so always ask us for the latest. It's the concept of Wilderness Safaris, and it will be a sister lodge to the immensely popular Bisate Lodge in the Volcanoes National Park, and the newly opened Magashi Camp, in Akagera National Park.
At present, the idea is that Gishwati will be a small lodge with around six cottages. The aim is for guests to be able to take part in a whole host of wildlife based activities, from habituated chimpanzee trekking, nature walks, and exploring the bird, animal and wildlife that this fascinating area has to offer.
