"Canon Roadhouse"

2 nights Arrived 5 Sep 2013
"We had three nights here to explore the Fish River area. It is a quirky place to stay with all the old vehicles inside and outside!

The staff were helpful, most especially Arvid, who helped to try and sort out a problem with our wheel rim, which had been damaged prior to our picking it up. But had been impossible to spot at the time of delivery as it was not visible until the tyre was flat and the wheel taken off!

We enjoyed our stay here and the food was very good. We also did a self guided walk here which was well marked out." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia; 5n in South Africa

"Weather very cold once the sun went down!

Bathroom freezing!

Lovely meals both nights and enjoyed chatting to the staff.

Had to buy a fleece in the shop to combat the cold!" See all these reviews: 19n in Namibia

"Canon Roadhouse review"

2 nights Arrived 6 Jun 2013
"Canon Roadhouse was very easy to find and appeared 'oasis like' out of the dry landscape! It was in fact very much an oasis for us as it has it's own fuel pumps!!

The rooms are arranged around a courtyard 'motel style' and are clean, comfortable and perfectly adequate. The whole place has a somewhat quirky feel as the owner clearly has a passion for classic vehicles and the reception/dining area resembles a large motor museum!

The reception desk, bar and tables are squeezed in between the more important vehicles! We ate breakfast against the radiator of a tractor and for dinner our table was pushed up against the rear doors of an ambulance!! Different - maybe not exactly Africa but fun!!!" "Brilliant - especially the warming open fires inside some of the cars.

Friendly, helpful staff (lent us swimming pool towels so we could have a dip at the Ai-Ais thermal springs). Rooms basic but comfy, food excellent and nicely presented. Small shopping area in Reception selling reasonable quality souvenirs, books, postcards, stamps, etc.

Definitely a place we won't forget!" See all these reviews: 19n in Namibia

"An excellent location for visiting Fish River Canyon.

The Roadhouse is certainly unusual with its old vehicles adorning the public area and grounds. Staff were helpful and friendly. The Canyon was spectacular. We also visited Ai Ais - some great scenery en route." See all these reviews: 19n in Namibia

"A quirky "Motel" which we enjoyed."

"Rooms were fine, clean and comfortable. The restaurant was more like a museum which led to a surreal dining experience which we will certainly remember. Well located for trips to Fish River Canyon and the small swimming pool was most welcome" See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia

"Great fun to stay here - really quirky with trees growing through old vehicles. Ideal location for Fish River Canyon.

Friendly, fun staff. Food very good and nice to have a choice from the full menu as part of DBB package.

Rooms are nicely decorated in bright colours. Some more space and loungers round the pool would have been appreciated." See all these reviews: 19n in Namibia

"Very close to the canyon and very helpful staff. Enjoyed the quirky layout with cars in the reception area.

Limited choice for vegetarians on the menu but great standard and good choice for those who eat full range. My partner said the steaks were one of the best!" See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia
