"Roys Restcamp review"

1 night Arrived 18 Nov 2007
"The rooms were rustic, charming, and well decorated. Please note that Chris Brandt's book states that this lodge has AC and hairdryers - this is not the case.

We enjoyed a trail walk on the property and ran into a group of elands.

The local staff was friendly and chatting with them in the evening made our experience more pleasurable." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"A great stopover on the way North"

1 night Arrived 6 Nov 2007
"This was a great place to end our first days travelling up to the north. A warm welcome and a cooling drink greeted us at this camp situated about 60km from Grootfontein in the bush. A comfortable bungalow type accomodation with en suite shower and verandah overlooked a small waterhole. Dinner that night was very good and after dinner drinks were made even better by the appearance of a small herd of kudu at the waterhole.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and played their part in making this an enjoyable overnight stay." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

"Unpretentious and charming"

1 night Arrived 30 Oct 2007
"Roy's, too, has something of the same feel as we noted at Ndhovu; it's an eccentrically designed and decorated camp with a 'hippy' feel; it's also charmingly laid-back. Despite our voucher and long-term booking arrangement, they had no record of our arrival and stay; not that that mattered - we were the only guests beyond a handful of campers.

Three staff, a manager and a guide/barman/handyman and a young woman who seemed to do all the work were cheerfully relaxed. The cooking was sumptuous, very plentiful in a genuinely farmhouse style and thoroughly wholesome - if Roy's can do it then ...." See all these reviews: 25n in Namibia

"Roys Restcamp review"

1 night Arrived 24 Oct 2007
"I'm afraid we found the lodge wierd rather than interesting! There was a slight voodoo feel about it. The chalets - being brick built - were extremely hot and there was sacking stuff over the windows which didn't help. The pool was green - the service was virtually non-existent and not particularly friendly. We did see Eland though at their waterhole which was good as we hadn't seen them up to then. There is a new lodge just opened on the main road on from Roys camp. We stopped for a coffee and croissant there (very good) and had a look at the rooms which were smallish but nice. I think it's just called 'the Lodge'." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia

"Ok stopping point acroos from Etosha"

1 night Arrived 31 Jul 2007
"Probably the only place to stop at on the journey from Etosha to Caprivi. Comfortable, slightly quirky lodge. Not much to do but fine as the overnight stop. Surprisingly noisy from the road. Staff were OK but more interested talking to each other than to guests. Food was OK and rooms comfortable" See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia; 2n in Botswana
