Lions Bluff Lodge: picture gallery

Lion's Bluff Lodge is spectacularly sited in the Lumo Wildlife Sanctuary.
All the public areas, including reception…
…have fantastic views. From reception you walk along a suspended 'bridge'…
…to the main lounge-dining area, partly enclosed in glass to shelter guests from the breeze
There are plenty of open-air deck areas, though – both thatch-covered…
…and fully open to catch the sun – …
…and a well-stocked bar.
The rooms are ingenious, mounted on cliff-edge decks. This one is a family unit…
…which children (upstairs, obviously) adore…
…but most are twins or doubles…
…and all are very pretty, comfortable in a rustic fashion…
…and offer panoramic views to the west, with Kilimanjaro often visible in the early morning.
You sleep very soundly here…
…and waking up to this is an experience that's hard to beat.
The rooms feel quite spacious when the canvas walls are rolled up…
… and they're a good distance apart.
We're a bit less enthusiastic about the bathrooms…
…which feel a little dark, cramped and inadequate…
…but we're assured that improvements have been made since we visited in 2012.
The main thing here is always the location…
…the chance to do some outdoor activities, such as bush walks…
…perhaps a bit of target practice…
…and some fire-making.
And of course you can do game drives in the Lumo and Taita Hills sanctuaries, using 4WDs…
…with fully removable sides and top.
Lion's Bluff is owned by the Lumo community and staying here benefits them directly.
