Saruni Samburu: video gallery

Saruni Samburu: picture gallery

At Saruni Samburu, you're looked after by experienced staff from the local Samburu community.
Saruni Samburu has one of the most spectacular locations in Kenya...
... with views over the Mathews Range to the north.
On arrival you'll be briefed in the lounge area with its stunning views.
In fact, you have wonderful views of the Samburu ecosystem from almost everywhere in the lodge.
All the rooms are full of space, light…
...and air, being open to the sky and the endless plains below...
... all with spectacular views.
The bedrooms are furnished with canopy beds draped in mosquito netting…
…and have good-sized decks.
The outdoor showers…
…and inside bathtubs with a view…
…all have a touch of luxury.
Family Villa 1a-1b is the closest to the central parts of the lodge…
…while Villa 6a-6b is furthest away and looks west.
The spectacular 'honeymoon villa' (no. 5) is also a fair walk from the main lounge and dining area.
Villa 2b, where we stayed in 2017…
…is very representatative, with its bold use of colour…
…and open-plan bathroom.
This plan gives you an idea of the layout of the lodge (south is up), with Vila 6a-6b on the right.
In the communal dining area at Kudu House you'll meet other guests…
…as you will at the firepit area near the edge of the rock.
…or in the lounge under the sun canopy.
Breakfasts always start with plenty of fruit.
While at the lodge, you'll absorb Samburu culture through nearby rock-paintings…
......and have the chance to join in with their contemporary traditions…
…and participate yourself if you wish.
Outside dinners around the camp fire are always a treat.
Game drives explore the Samburu National Reserve by road…
...maybe stopping for breakfast – or a sundowner on the way back in the evening.
In the afternoon, pamper yourself with a massage (a free one is included)…
…or soak in one of the pools, either this one…
…facing south towards Mount Kenya…
...or the one on top of the rock ...
... with its 360-degree views.
And if you want some souvenirs, the little shop is well stocked with local crafts and items from other parts of Kenya.
