Nestled in the heart of the 200,000-acre Kalama Conservancy in Samburu, Basecamp Samburu offers a unique and intimate safari experience. This under-canvas tented camp, the second property in the conservancy after Saruni Samburu, evokes the spirit of early explorers with its five tents, including one family tent and four double tents. Each tent is designed to blend seamlessly with the rugged landscape, featuring private terraces that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding wilderness, including the majestic Mt. Ololokwe.
One of the camp’s most distinctive features is its star beds, a first in our portfolio, allowing guests to sleep under the vast Samburu skies. These elevated beds provide a truly magical experience, with one star bed offering a jacuzzi and the other a private dining area.
