Kicheche Laikipia: video gallery

Kicheche Laikipia: picture gallery

Kicheche Laikipia is Ol Pejeta Conservancy's most stylish tented camp.
The central areas include a small curio shop, with well-made crafts on offer.
The lounge incorporates comfy seating, and a large fireplace for chilly nights.
The camp's feel – tropical plants, cut flowers – is more stylish than you might expect.
The guest tents keep up the same feel and are cosy and spacious.
During the day the flaps would normally be zipped back to let let in plenty of light.
There's attention to detail in every aspect, from pillows and lighting to the bedside kit.
Darkwood furniture in the bathrooms…
…gives this tented camp a very pleasant, welcoming atmosphere…
…but the facilities are always practical and well designed.
We particularly enjoyed the large veranda areas…
…from where we watched the resident waterbuck and the area's birdlife…
…and occasionally lounged in the hammock.
If you're a couple, or even on honeymoon, and considering Ol Pejeta…
…then Kicheche Laikipia is a likely to be a good choice…
… as the tents are quite private and well spaced.
There's also one even larger tent, ideal for a family, with twin beds as well as a double.
Guests usually eat together, hosted by the charming managers.
Talking over the day's experiences at dinner in front of the fire is a great way to end the day.
After dinner, you can always stay for a nightcap in the lounge.
The service at Kicheche Laikipia is always attentive and efficient…
…and the food, much of it sourced locally, is excellent.
The managers are the highly experienced Andy and Sonja Webb (photo © Derek Lea).
