Jack's Camp: picture gallery

Jack's Camp is built on the edge of an island overlooking the Makgadikgadi Pans.
The Camp is constructed in a classic safari style.
The main tent houses not only the dining and lounge areas, but also a natural history museum...
...with interesting books, diagrams, photos, exhibits and maps...
...and a social area with bar and pool table.
There's a second large marquee tent which shades the swimming pool...
....surrounded by loungers and overlooking the desert vistas.
Spread beneath the palm trees are ten walk-in tents.
Each tent is raised on wooden decks with outdoor seating to enjoy the expansive views.
Inside, the tents are comfortably furnished....
...some with twin beds...
...and all with an en-suite bathroom...
...an indoor shower...
...a quirky throne flush toilet...
...and an outside shower, in addition to the one inside.
The tents each have a selection of natural history books for guests to enjoy.
Activities include nature drives in and around Makgadikgadi Pans National Park....
...nature walks with Bushmen who show their traditional hunting and gathering skills...
...an unforgettable encounter with a habituated meerkat colony...
...and in the dry season (May-Oct) quadbiking excursions across the salt pans.
The activities aim to give you an understanding of the area's geology...
...and an appreciation of the vastness of the Makgadikgadi...
...as well as its beauty.
Wildlife is not prolific here but exceptional sightings may include Kalahari black-maned lion...
..and some thirsty elephants...
...and the occasional wildebeest.
