Guided tour of Victoria Falls

Guided tour of Victoria Falls

Overview: Guided tour of Victoria Falls

Known as 'Mosi-oa-Tunya' or 'the smoke that thunders', Victoria Falls was first 'discovered' by David Livingstone in November 1855. This first sighting, by a European, of the 108 metre waterfall, prompted Livingstone to write "No one can imagine the beauty of the view... scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight". Even today, this sentiment is echoed by many of those seeing the worlds largest curtain of falling water for the first time. For an even more in-depth understanding of the waterfall and what makes it so special, it's possible to take a 2-hour guided tour of the Falls and their immediate surrounds.

What to wear: Comfortable shoes and clothes, sun hat, sunglasses and in winter (April to August) warm layers, especially in the morning. Rain coats will be provided when required.
During times of high water (depending on the rains, usually around February to April) there can be a huge amount of spray from the Falls, and you may get very wet! We'd advise taking precautions to protect your cameras and valuables, either with waterproof coverings or bags.

Please note: Expert Africa can only arrange a visit to the spectacular Victoria Falls as part of a full, Expert Africa itinerary which includes a stop in Victoria Falls. See the Holiday ideas, below, for examples of such itineraries.
