Zanzibar review

Zanzibar between 5 Sep 2009 and 11 Sep 2009

Trip rating: Excellent
"We had a wonderful time, one the best holidays that we had in a long time.

The service we received from Expert Africa was excellent and the trip ran very smoothly and to the itinerary that was provided beforehand."

Mchanga Beach Lodge, Zanzibar (this camp has since closed)

"Mchanga Beach Lodge review"

5 nights Arrived 5 Sep 2009
"This is a wonderful lodge. We had a very relaxing and restful 5 days. The rooms are lovely with huge comfortable beds and nicely finished with local furnishings. The food was consistently of a high standard throughout our stay with a different menu every evening and a wide selection at lunch and breakfast, all of which was made freshly to order.

The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make sure you are enjoying your stay. As they only accommodate around 16 people at one time, the service is very personal.

The lodge is on a slightly isolated part of the coast on a beautiful stretch of beach. It is perfect if you are looking to unwind and relax however if you want lots of activities on your doorstep this probably isn't the place for you (although there are plenty of days trips available that can be easily arranged).

Overall we would highly recommend Mchanga Beach Lodge and would love to go back one day."

Zanzibar Coffee House

Zanzibar Coffee House

"Zanzibar Coffee House review"

1 night Arrived 10 Sep 2009
"This is a quirky little hotel in the centre of Stone Town. We stayed in the Cappuccino Suite which was a large room with en suite bathroom. The room has an usual layout, reflecting the age of the building, and the owners have furnished the rooms in keeping with this. The bathroom suite looked to be new and the rooms were very clean. As we stayed only one night, we probably didn't experience everything the hotel had to offer but it was very comfortable.

Breakfast is served at the top of the building with 360 degree views over Stone Town, which makes for a memorable experience. The coffee shop downstairs offers a welcome respite from the heat and bustle of the streets outside."
