"We had a wonderful time. This was an amazing, unique experience that combined the animals of Northern Kenya, the amazing view of the mountains, the cultural experiences, and the Retiti Elephant Sancuary. We loved it... and it was a great place to start. John our guide, Philip the general manager, and Grace the front-of-house manager, who were all from the local tribe were wonderful people, welcoming, open, and funny. They made our stay amazing and I thank each one."

Reteti Elephant Orphanage visit

This was an amazing experience in so many ways. The work being done her to save baby elephants (and giraffes and ostriches) was impressive. Equally impressive were the local people who staff this orphanage. I love that the milk is bought from local women, giving them and income. The Retiti Elephant Orphanage was a highlight, not juse for our visit locally but for the whole trip to Kenya.

"The location of this lodge gave us a perfect base for exploring a wonderful place. The staff was wonderfully welcoming and those assigned to our group we so helpful. Our guide Joe did a fabulous job. He not only was an expert on the local animals and all the beautiful birds, but helped us understand the local flora -- particularly the trees. This added so much to our journey."

"Loldia House gave us such a different view of Kenya with its setting on the lake in an area with more rainfall than other areas we went to. It was a restful place to be. And it was amazing to have hippos, monkeys, impala, and African fish eagles and eaglettes in view from our cottage. The food at every lodge was excellent. Loldia House's was the best. We also loved visiting the local flower growers. The flowers were beautiful and it was so interesting to see a local business."

"When we were told that we would see so many animals in the Massai Mara, I had no idea what that would mean. What an experience! Not only did we see a huge variety of animals and birds, we also saw them in so many different situations helping us understand their habits and habitats. Yet another wonderful guide!"

Balloon flight over the Mara

The balloon ride was a highlight of not only the Mara, but of the whole trip. It was absolutley worth getting up at 3:50am and driving over an hour on bumpy, bumpy, bumpy roads. Launching at sunrise, drifting across the Mara alternating silence with the blast of the baloon's burners, and having a birds eye view was a lifetime highlight. The perspective it gave us on the wildebeest migration was stunning.
