"Emakoko is tucked away on the banks of the river in NNP and can be a steep climb to the rooms, but I asked for and was given the room near the main lounge and dining area.

The lodging was excellent, very large and spacious room with all the amenities. I was picked up from Four Points at 9 AM sharp and on the way to the lodge did a game drive in NNP.

The manager and guides at Emakoko are very well informed, the experience was fantastic, I saw 24 different rhinos, including some black rhinos in the 3 game drives I did there. Some of them were very close and comfortable with our presence.

The food was excellent and I was pampered and well cared for in my meal preferences."

"This was my third visit to Tortilis and for obvious reasons. It is located in a conservancy which means game viewing is excellent and mostly private.

The camp is also very nice, there is a climb from the tents to the main lodge and eating area but it is not difficult and you can also get picked up near the pool for the game drives which makes it so much easier. My guide Juma is absolutely the best and it was a treat to have him in the car.

The facilities are top-notch and everyone is always ready to help. Food is superb, it is even better than I remember. Breakfast is a buffet and dinner is a multiple course meal served at the table. Everyone is assigned a room steward who looks after all your needs in the tent, including the morning wake-up tea/coffee, laundry and anything else. You also have a personal waiter who attends to you during mealtimes and will get your packed breakfast prepared according to your wishes, apart from other things.

I had a massage twice during my 10 day stay there and it was very good, perfect for all the back pains I developed from the 'safari massage' sustained during the game drives."

"Offbeat Mara is a simple camp in the classic style.

All the tents are canvas with standard flushing toilets and bucket showers. The bed and furniture in the tent is very comfortable and nicely finished. You can charge the batteries in the tent and there is also wi-fi in all locations. The room steward brings you your morning tea with the wake-up call and also looks after all your needs including laundry services. As with all unfenced camps, after dark you need to be escorted by a guard.

Meals are in the main area and are simple yet delicious.

The guiding is excellent. In contrast to most other camps, there is a guide and a separate driver for the car, which actually makes it better since the attention of each person is focused on their role. Benson, my guide was really amazing in how he managed to spot lions on a distant hill.

All in all, a wonderful experience. Everyone is always ready and eager to help you with all your needs."
