My May 2024 trip
Botswana between 11 May 2024 and 26 May 2024
"I have provided a lot of feedback on the individual camps, covering the amazing wildlife, the superb lodges and camps, and the brilliant staff in each location.
Expert Africa, Tracy, were very helpful. The advice we received on the different options that were possible in Botswana, fitting our budget and timelines, was excellent, and proved to be spot on!
We were heading onwards to Victoria Falls and Malawi under our own steam, and Tracy was able to provide excellent advice on best route, and we took the opportunity to ask Tracy to book us the land transfer from Kasane to Livingstone.
The whole trip worked like clockwork, so efficient! The locations were exceptional. I would highly recommend!
Cannot suggest any improvements. That says it all!"

"We were immediately made to feel welcome when we arrived. The manager and additional staff were present with a warm welcome and short chat about the camp. The staff and guide were excellent over the 3 nights. Eric was our guide and he was able to answer almost any question, and was clearly committed to ensure we enjoyed our stay to the maximum. Eric also had a great sense of humour and brought alot more than simply knowledge and experience!
The camp was way beyond expectations. A huge tent, luxuriously decked out, with more facilities than expected. Extremely comfortable and peaceful, with the added bonus of having a large male elephant visiting within 10 metres, literally a once in a lifetime experience I imagine! Food and organization was superb. More than worth the money!
Most importantly we were lucky with the safari viewing...lions (eating a kill), leopards (eating a kill), tons of elephants, hippos, baby hyena and wild dogs (twice)! We were also glad we took the opportunity for the Mokoro ride, and amazing chance to see a family of elephants drinking early morning, while we were on the water. We stayed in 3 camps in our week - this was the top camp (and the others were also exceptional)!
Thank you to Eric, Sox and the rest of the team (sorry I cannot recall all names)!!!"

Kwara Camp

"Our final stop. Loved the light aircraft ride in. It was noticeable we were in a large private reserve, and we truly felt as though we were in the wilderness.
I think what stood out for me here (our last camp), was that it was noticeable that there were very few vehicles in the area. We had a good welcome and the staff were so engaged over the 2 nights, great food, great service and staff who were prepared to go the extra mile. Our guide, Chimmie (apologies if spelling is wrong) and his tracker (sorry cannot recall his name), were brilliant. Knowledgeable, friendly and focused. Chimmie heard there was a pack of Wild Dogs, but they were about a 1 hour drive...he gave us the option of if we wanted to drive there or not (we did). It was great to be given the option and told how long it might take. Chimmie also gave us an impromptu lesson on the stars on the drive back one evening.
We took the opportunity to do a Mokoro trip, which was great, getting close, but not too close, to some hippos, and spotting a tiny frog...spotted by the tracker, I do not know how! Also loved the boat trip...wonderful to get a real feeling of the delta, and the various riverways, seeing great birdlife. All with the added bonus of a stop for some light bites, a St Louis beer, and some Okavango Gin!
I would say probably less animal sightings (still plenty) than other camps we were in, but those sightings never has more than 2 other vehicles. I would actually put this as a positive of this camp, dependent on what you are looking for, or have maybe seen in other locations already.
Very comfortable, great food, and a great team. Thank you."

As we had only 2 nights we were very happy to be provided with lunch quickly and then straight out to Chobe! The staff and guide were excellent over the 2 nights. Tips was our guide and he was able to answer almost any question, and was clearly committed to ensure we enjoyed our stay to the maximum.
The lodge was very comfortable and the food and service top class. We were able to take a walking safari on our last morning, which was a pleasant change from driving. Importantly, as well, it was not oversold. It was sold as it was...a chance to be on your feet, get the opportunity to experience the flora more closely, while seeing some animals at a distance...
Most importantly we were lucky with the safari viewing...lions, leopards, tons of elephants. The boat trip was also well worth it, seeing some great birdlife, and seeing animals from a different perspective.
Overall a great experience!"
