"We were a 3 generation group and Governors' Camp was an excellent place to start our holiday. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and made a lot of effort to accomodate my grand daughters and make their trip very special. In particular, thanks to Philip who was our safari guide. The location, looking over a bend in the river and watering place is great and the family tent was well appointed and a good size for 2 adults and 2 children. The camp also offered a seperate child friendly menu which was much appreciated. High points were the number and range of wildlife near to the camp which meant there was no lengthy drive involved on our first day. We had a long day out so that we could see the migration which was well worth while. We also enjoyed seeing lots of warthogs around the camp! Overall I would recommend this camp for families and if your trip is part of a birthday celebration, being served birthday cake by singing and dancing Maasai is quite an experience."

"The setting of Basecamp Eagle View is stunning. Arriving and trying to take in the extent of the view is a very memorable experience. All the tents are cantilevered from the hillside so the view is always there, including from the outside shower. We had 2 tents, one for 2 people and the other for a family of 4. The family tent was huge and effectively 2 adjoining tents put together. The amount of space was very much appreciated by my son and his family. Both tents were well appointed. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and although not specifically aiming at families, they did give my grand daughters a chance to try archery Maasai style. The game drives were morning and evening plus a later night time drive. As Basecamp is in a conservancy the number of vehicles is limited and the guides stick to this; this really enhances the experience. The lion and cheetah population is thriving so it was possible to get up close to the animals and see a cheetah hunt and kill as well as a pride of lions and cubs at rest and play. Our Maasai guide was proud, quite rightly, of what has been achieved in Naboisho conservancy where the wildlife is thriving and the local people benefit from tourism."

"Pinewood was just the right place for a relaxing 4 nights following safari in the Maasi Mara. The staff were all friendly and welcoming although the service from the beach bar at lunchtime was rather erratic with food sometimes being very slow to arrive. The evening meals were good quality and varied, they were mostly served at the beach side restaurant which was a lovely, spacious location. My grand daughters greatly appreciated the pool in the morning when the tide was out and then playing in the waves of the Indian Ocean in the afternoon. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed with good air conditioning and a fan. I had a massage in the Spa which was very relaxing after time spent in safari vehicles. Overall the Pinewood met our needs very successfully, both adults and children alike."
