"Everything from start to finish was superb.
From the initial chat about what I'd like to do, to the return, was handled exceptionally well by Meg and the whole Expert Africa team. You couldn't be in better hands."

"Footsteps is an amazing concept of old-school safari camps and walking experiences. It's very small, intimate and a calm, tranquil experience with hippos within ear shot all the time and often within the bounds of the camp itself. But for me I think they over do the ‘old-fashioned’ bit. I have to say I hadn’t realised the camp was set up like this, and while I loved the location, walking safaris (and drives and mokoros), I was less keen on the basic tents, bucket showers and no wifi etc. I’ve been in ‘seasonal’ camps before and know they can be more modern, so in my opinion I would keep the activities but update the facilities.
The walks were enjoyable, but 4 hours, especially as the temperature rises in the morning was a bit much. And ironically we got closer to the animals in the jeep than on foot. We saw a lot of zebras, a few giraffes, fewer elephants and heard but didn't see lions, leopards and hyenas. And a lot of hippos.
Overall I think it's a different, calm and interesting camp. But I wouldn't go back unless the facilities were updated."

"The perfect choice for seeing Victoria Falls. Rooms were spacious and comfortable overlooking the grounds which were full of wildlife from elephants to baboons to deer to warthogs. Just a 5-10 minute walk to the Falls themselves the roar of the Falls is the dominant sound at the hotel, as you look at the huge cloud of water the Falls throw up. And yes, you will need a poncho as it is very wet indeed when at the Falls.
The staff were nice but service in the restaurant was a bit haphazard, a flurry of service; then absolutely nothing. Definitely needs more staff or more training or both. The food itself was very good, whether for dinner, breakfast or bar-food by the pool.
One down side for me was there didn't seem to be any room service (or at least there was no indication in my room) although the 'free' mini bar was very handy and a nice touch.
Overall it's a great choice to see the Falls and I would highly recommend it."

Sightings report
The game drives were equally fantastic. On the first afternoon we saw lions and then, after sundowners at an amazing location we bumped into the same pride and spent a long time with them as they padded past us in the dusk. Then we saw three hippos making their way to another pool. An incredible experience.
The second day was even better. On the first morning drive we saw lions, two male cheetahs, a leopard and did a mokoro paddle to see otters and crocodiles. Un. Be. Liev. Able. The afternoon was focused on the same leopard and we spent a long time with her. Couldn't be better.
That night I heard the lions in the camp itself. With an early flight, we left the camp at dawn and bumped into the lions literally on the road. A quick trip to see more hippos and the huge male elephant hanging around near the entrance and it was time to go. I definitely want to go back."
