Waterberry Zambezi Lodge

Tafika
"Tafika review"
The first game drive proved very fruitful with sightings galore including a much hoped for leopard along with her cub, a magical experience."
Chikoko Tree Camp
"Chikoko Tree Camp review"
Despite having only minimal facilities the chef provided delicious meals and sweet treats for our walks and we were very well looked after throughout.
We walked here with the scout, guide and our ‘tea bearer’ and as we were the only guests had them and the place to ourselves.
Our walk was excellently paced allowing the opportunity to look at many different things from animals to plants, prints and evidence markings and a plethora of dung from which we learnt so much.
The highlight has to be the discovery of lions on our first walk and the subsequent mock charge from one lioness which certainly got my heart pumping a little faster, but I never felt anything but safe."
Big Lagoon Camp
"Big Lagoon Camp review"
The deck over the lagoon was a lovely spot from which to enjoy the baboons on one side and the vervet monkeys on the other as well as numerous birds and antelope in particular with elephants coming by to drink and bathe too.
More walks and another lion encounter, but this time from a slightly more comfortable distance of about 50 yards. Elephants, giraffes, buffalo, water buck and zebra in good numbers spotted too."
Tafika
"Tafika review"
Again, we enjoyed great food and company and the unspoilt view of the river and beyond.
The game drives provided excellent sightings with lions, leopards and hyenas aplenty and a rare opportunity to see a Cookson’s wildebeest.
The smaller creatures also gave pleasure with numerous mongoose, civet, genet and elephant shrews offering night time entertainment.
Many thanks in particular to Mukupa for his guiding skills throughout our stay, his knowledge is unsurpassed in all fields."
Anabezi Luxury Tented Camp
"Anabezi Luxury Tented Camp review"
Quietly stated luxury, but unpretentious, with the friendliest staff and excellent attention to detail from everyone. Delicious food throughout, though far too much of it, and a good variety of drinks in the room fridge.
Lovely rooms open onto a private wooden deck offering a wide view of the river and plenty of wildlife passing through, particularly warthogs, elephants, antelope, monkeys and baboons all on a daily basis. This provided plenty of opportunities to relax which can be hard to find if you’re always busy on game drives; take timeout and enjoy.
Our guide, Prisley, was keen to know what we might particularly want to see and was informative on the animal front and helpful with photo opportunities and angles. His excitement at seeing two honey badgers squabbling over a honeycomb was nearly as great as ours, he hadn’t seen one for four years!
We enjoyed a sunset river cruise but as the rains failed last season the water was too low for canoeing safely which was a shame but safety was paramount.
When I was unwell the staff were attentive and caring and provided specific food for me on request."
My Aug 2022 trip
Namibia between 28 Aug 2022 and 30 Sep 2022
The gravel roads aren’t for the faint hearted but the country as a whole makes up for it!
Stunning scenery, a great variety of experiences and many very happy memories.
The tok tokkie trail and Ongava were our highlights"

"Tok Tokkie Trail - superb!"
We had a great time walking with Nico, our guide, and two other couples.
Wonderful environment, comfy beds under the stars, excellent food and a highlight of our trip."
Dead Valley Lodge
"Dead Valley Lodge review"
Not sure about the waiting on staff wearing, in some cases, ripped jeans; I think they could have been provided with trousers."
Cornerstone Guesthouse

Great location, just 5 minute walk into town or to the sea."
Brandberg White Lady Lodge

Very clean, good food and friendly staff."
Mowani Mountain Camp
"Mowani Mountain Camp review"
Unfortunate to only find one elephant on our nature drive (not usual) but our guide worked hard and we had a relaxed long time with him. The guide’s knowledge was very good and her bird spotting and identification was excellent.
The excursion to see the ancient rock art was interesting and informative."
Camp Kipwe
"Camp Kipwe review"
The walk up to the sundowner spot was well worth it!
Great guide for our nature drive which resulted in a super time spent with breeding herd."
Ongava Lodge
"Ongava Lodge review"
Loved the water hole visible from the main lodge and (at an angle) from our veranda. We saw 11 rhino there one evening, the average being about 3.
We spent two mornings at the hide by the water hole and saw a great variety of wildlife; an elephant herd spent 55 minutes there one morning as well as giraffe, oryx, kudu, black backed jackel, warthog, impala and hundreds of comical Guinea fowl.
We found three rhino whilst on foot as well as others from the vehicle."

Etango Ranch Guest Farm
"Etango Ranch Guest Farm review"
Clean and well situated for the airport but rather cold with no facility to warm the room.
Dinner was good and as we were leaving early in the morning a breakfast pack was made up for us the evening before."
We were looked after by Cecilia for our stay. She was attentive without being oppressive and had a lovely disposition ensuring we had everything we needed.
The food was delicious and well presented throughout.
We were fortunate that we were the only people in the woodland tents so all was quiet and very private. We had all we needed and were very comfortable. Our fridge was full of soft drinks with a good variety, especially good for us as ‘non drinkers’.
We enjoyed a sundowner trip on the river from which we saw a good variety of wildlife with a super guide and excellent snacks, including probably the best spare ribs I have ever eaten.
Our visit to the local school was very informative and was led by the head teacher, Bridget. We were amazed by just how many students and classrooms there were and also how innovative they are being to be self sufficient with their huge vegetable garden, fish farm, piggery and new chicken coop. The children were happy and as the older ones were doing exams the younger pupils went off to do sporting activities to allow a quiet environment. The computer suite was impressive and carefully looked after.
We only agreed to visit after being assured that the pupils would not be put on show, as we have unfortunately seen elsewhere, and we could see that their education was paramount here, a credit to Waterberry and the staff.
We visited Livingstone museum and Victoria falls with Aaron who had all the knowledge that was required and presented it in a user friendly and pleasant manner. He also took us to a couple of shops to allow us to buy some necessities resulting from our delayed luggage and was very helpful.
We would highly recommend Waterberry."
