My Jul 2023 trip
Tanzania between 18 Jul 2023 and 8 Aug 2023
"Jessica did a wonderful job putting this altogether, She worked effortlessly to book me in the lodges I preffered even though this really was a near last-minute booking.
Everything went smoothly, and most importantly I never had to wait or wonder where my rides were. They were there as promised.
Thank you so much for your work and input.
Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:
Nope. As far as I can tell you nailed everything in place."

Sayari Camp
"Wow. Sayari was amazing. "

"Wow. Sayari was amazing. I loved everything about it. Charles, our manager, did an excellent job as did my valet, George. I love you guys! But my favorite person was my guide Nahum. We had so much fun for the 3 days we went out in the jeep. He knew everything about everything and we saw a lot, including 3 crossings.
The camp is really nice and the rooms, like the rooms at Namiri were wonderful. They don't miss a thing there, from laundry service, turn down, and handy beverages you have everything you need. I think Asilia in general does lodging just right. Not too opulent, just beautiful, relaxing, and generous in any of your needs. And the food is amazing...they really know how to make a good soup!
This is probably the best choice for lodging in the area if you are coming to see the migration. It certainly checked all my boxes.
here's a tip - definitely do the african ritual massage...it's a bumpy day out there and ending with a nice massage is a very generous way of thanking your bones and muscles for putting up with it."

Namiri Plains Camp
"Namiri Plains Camp review"
3 nights
Arrived
29 Jul 2023
"Namiri was my favorite camp in Tanzania (along with Greystoke Mahale - but that's a different kind of experience).
I loved my guide, The combination of the camp and the location can not be beat. It is a long ways away from the airport (about 1.5 hours), so be prepared for a long, bumpy ride to get there. But it is so, so worth it. My guide was the only female guide I had for my whole trip, but she was awesome. We had a lot of fun tracking down leopards, cheetahs, and lions.
They say this is a camp you go to if you want to see the cats and this is no lie. We say one lion pride with 14 cubs!! I almost cried it was so incredible to see them playing around with their parents, siblings, and cousins. The cheetah experience was also a big payday. I think we saw three families of mothers with cubs.
As for the camp - it's beautiful. I expected it to be after staying at Sayari and it was everything I imagined when I planned this whole thing out. Like Sayari, everything is done to near perfection- from service and food to management guiding.
This is a camp I hope to bring my kids to in a few years time."

Entamanu Ngorongoro
"Entamanu Ngorongoro review"
2 nights
Arrived
1 Aug 2023
"Okay, so I knew I would to write this and I'm not fond of writing bad reviews, but to be fair, this was least favorite camp. I don't think it's all on Nomad, it's more about the location than anything, but also it's about the service and rooms and management.
I won't get too into....I'll just say that it felt like a camp in transitional phase, which it is. They are in the process of updating the main area, which desperately needs to be updated with a stone structure of some sort. Right now it's a tent. And if you didn't know this, Ngorongoro camps located on the rim are exceptionally windy camps.
I was moved from a tent to one of their newer private bandas, which was a good thing, but even these rooms are less than inspiring when compared to the other camps I stayed at.
On the plus side- The food was very good, and the small Masai Village experience was pretty cool and did not feel exploitive."

Safari in Ngorongoro Crater
"Safari in Ngorongoro Crater review"
2 Aug 2023 • All-day excursion
If I had to go back and change anything about my safari itinerary I would skip Ngorongoro. Maybe we just had a bad day, but after coming from the Serengeti the crater was underwhelming.
The only animal I saw there that was a novelty were the flamingos.
If you are on the fence and planning on visiting the Serengeti I would spend more nights up there and skip this altogether.

"Wow! What a camp and experience... From the moment I arrived by boat to this secluded drop of paradise to the moment I left I was breathless.
The obvious reason travelers come here is to see the chimps. I did two treks, both short, and experienced everything there was to experience with these noble apes. We got very lucky and ran into the main group on our second trek. We were able to spend an hour watching them groom, play, eat, and climb around the trees. It's an experience like no other.
The camp itself is beautiful..the rooms are gorgeous and secluded, with the sounds of the lakeshore at your front step. The food was wonderful, the service impeccable, the people so kind and knowledgeable.
I am so happy I choose to make this my last stop for a month-long safari. It could not have ended any better."

The lodge itself is incredible. For four days and nights I experienced the special way Beho Beho does it's guiding, whether it is a walking, boating, or driving safari, all the guiding was top notch. The food was incredible, and I loved how we dined for dinner in a different part of the lodge every night.
The rooms are gorgeous, and the service is so familial that you feel at home the moment you walk in. I can't imagine there is a better camp in this part of Tanzania.
Shout out to Heribert and the whole crew. You guys were the best!"
