My Jun 2021 trip
Tanzania between 3 Jun 2021 and 9 Jun 2021
"The trip was definitely a wonderful experience. The guide was very good, and that is one of the most important parts of a trip like this.
Ngorongoro and Serengeti are two fantastic places, and we had the rare privilege of visiting with very little tourism, really feeling and breathing the place.
With my current experience, I will change the first part of the trip avoiding lake Manyara and the long transfer of the first day, and planning at least two safaris in the crater."

Lake Manyara Safari
"Lake Manyara Safari review"
4 Jun 2021 • All-day excursion
I would call it ‘trash Lake’ Manyara.
The road through the forest arrives in the lake and it is not possible to go on because of high level of water.
In the shore and shallow waters, a multitude of plastic and trash of all kinds, plus troops of baboons, the only sighting.

Feedback response
We are really sorry to hear that these travellers had a negative experience of Lake Manyara, particularly the high level of rubbish seen around the lake shore. We have been in touch with our partners in Tanzania and they explained that rubbish comes from all around the lake outside the park, and that this is typically cleared away by the rangers. Unfortunately due to the global pandemic and reduced financial income from tourism there have been fewer rangers working recently, all with a greater volume of work and limited time, meaning that unfortunately rubbish collection has been a lesser priority than anti-poaching patrols. This is our first complaint of rubbish in the park, and this is certainly not in line with our own other travellers experiences and we are hopeful the situation will improve soon.
Safari in Ngorongoro Crater
"Safari in Ngorongoro Crater review"
5 Jun 2021 • All-day excursion
It is an incredible place, full of wildlife in a unique environment.
We were the only vehicle before sunrise and this made the experience as something special.
We spent most of the morning on our own among low clouds and the rays of sun filtering through.
I would have liked to come back a second time in the afternoon but the access policy is quite frustrating.

Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge

"The lodge is located on a hill in a forest, quite far from the central part where there was all the ‘action’, but the service is very good.
Unfortunately the woodland area is full of tse tse flies (I got several bites), and the choice of the location was not the best, because it was very far from the migration, hence with very little wildlife around."

Feedback response
We are sorry to hear that these travellers disliked the location of Serengeti Serena Lodge. It is always hard to predict exactly where the wildebeest migration will be at any given point in time, and the movements of the herds can vary dramatically from year to year. In early June we would typically expect the migratory herds to be in the central Serengeti, moving north west and up towards the northern Serengeti, in this instance the Serengeti Serena Lodge would be well located to see the wildebeest migration. Talking to our partners in Tanzania they mentioned that the wildebeest migration is a little late this year, and the migratory herds were further south than expected. We always do our best to guide and advise travellers as to the most likely location for the wildebeest migration, although this can be challenging during months when the herds are typically on the move, and we are sorry that the location of the lodge was not ideal on this occasion.
Sightings report
We were the only guests of the lodge, giving us a deep sense of privilege to be there.
The road to get there is really awful after the rains and especially after having arrived from an international flight.
My advice is not to get there directly after arrival on day one."
