A great holiday
Tanzania and 1 other country between 13 Oct 2008 and 29 Oct 2008
"We look back on our holiday as a wonderful memory. It was certainly all we had hoped it would be, and felt that our wishes had been well understood and catered for.
Suggestions for improvement:
The only thing that springs to mind is to stress to clients the importance of having proper reef shoes for this kind of holiday. One doesn't appreciate how sticky the sea bottom is at low tide, and many people only have flip flops, which are disastrous.
Thank you for organising such a stress-free and enjoyable holiday!"

Chole Mjini Lodge

"The lodge is creatively designed, and the individual tree houses are great fun, and very well made. This is real eco-tourism, where the lowest possible environmental impact is the top consideration.
Some suggestions would be: A bigger mirror in the treehouse. (One doesn't want to frighten the other guests) and better ventilation in the toilets. Although they are very cleverly designed and enviromentally correct, it gets extremely hot (and dark) in there!
The lack of ice for drinks was a serious problem, however a dedicated ice freezer was on order and apparently should be installed by December.
We enjoyed the family atmosphere at the lodge, and the way the guests got to know each other. We also appreciated the flexibility of the trips and activities offered. Altogether, it was a wonderful holiday."

Feedback response
5 December 2008: Jean has just reported to us: 'We do now have ice for the drinks, and as of 20 December we'll have a new cocktail bar next to the old German ruin!'
He's looking at the questions of toilet ventillation and mirrors in the bedrooms - and says 'thanks for the suggestions'.

Beyt al Salaam
"Beyt al Chai review"

"I found the atmosphere with the old furniture slightly depressing, although the room was quite comfortable. The bathroom could do with improvement.
We were unlucky in that while we were there the hotel had a leak in their water system, and had to turn the water off most of the time, which did nothing to help with one's comfort level.
However, the people were all friendly and pleasant."

Chumbe Island Lodge
"Successful Eco-Tourism"
3 nights
Arrived

"This is an eco-tourism project that really seems to work. Protection of the coral reef, research and education are part of every day on Chumbe, and at the same time they are providing a wonderful holiday destination. Being able to snorkel with a turtle is a magical experience! We loved every minute of it.
The staff at the lodge were very friendly and helpful, and made sure everyone was looked after.
As far as the "rooms" were concerned, we especially appreciated having a solar torch, reading lamp and fan - these things can make the difference between being comfortable or not! Things got a bit interesting when we had a day of heavy rain, and it was a little difficult to stop our clothes from getting damp, but that was not a serious problem.
We would love to go back there one day."

We would have stayed another day there very happily. It was the perfect place to de-stress and start to believe we were actually on holiday! We were pampered by the staff and very well fed!
If we ever return to Tanzania, we will definitely make Oyster Bay our starting point."
