Terrific
Zambia between 5 Sep 2008 and 18 Sep 2008
"Having talked about this trip for about five years, when we got round to booking it we had a marvellous and unforgettable experience. It was everthing we hoped - and more.
Very glad that local Zambian staff are being used so extensively - we found them to be among the most impressive.
The organisation and Anna's recommendations were spot on - and she couldn't have been more helpful.
Suggestions for improvement:
The brochure needed explanation as to how a package covering several different camps run by different companies could be put together. So the personal service is essential."

Kaingo Camp

"We had to be quite inisistent that we were there to walk. There may have been a shortage of scouts, but we got the impression it would have been easier for the organizers if we had simply wanted to sit on a truck twice a day. Having secured a couple of early morning walks, we had to ask for some breakfast, as opposed to tea and a biscuit before setting out
The cabins were excellent, very private, and the outside bath was much appreciated for relaxation and cooling off!
We felt the atmosphere was slightly more divisive than at other camps because some clients were playing for private guiding and had their own vehicles and that may have caused the scouting shortage.
There was a good variety of landscape - with the river and the beautiful ebony groves. We enjoyed the hippo hide and Retif's explanations."

"Lovely location. Overall standard of accommodation was very good.
Our only real gripe was that we were given the end tent/cabin which was open to the bush and could not understand why we had to be escorted to and from dinner in the evening, but it was considered alright for us to walk ten yards from our front door, quite unprotected, unhidden and unsheltered to the passage leading to the bathroom, at say, 1 and 4 am, when we had been told there were hyenas and lions around the camp at night. I asked for a plastic bucket and got, eventually, an old plastic paint container to pee in, but only when I insisted. We were able to move to an alternative tent for our remaining nights.
Lovely dining area looking out over the river. We saw lions, cubs and adults, with breakfast one morning. There was less variety of landscape than in the other camps but we had excellent walks and interesting drives."

Chaminuka, Zambia (this camp has since closed)
"Very handy for the airport."

"Public areas (bar, dining room etc) of very good standard, especially if interested in African art but rooms needed upgrading and looked slightly neglected. Exceptionally helpful restaurant manager - and overall good standard of food and drink.
The game facilities are definitely "safari lite" and overall OK for a couple of nights, but no longer. It is ideal for the early BA flight back to Heathrow.
David ? who met us at the airport and took us to and from Chaminuka could not have been more helpful."

Within half an hour of arriving, we were surrounded by a herd of elephant who walked into camp and kept us trapped (contentedly!) in our huts and the bar - an amazing introduction to our first safari!"
