Mission accomplished
Botswana between 10 Aug 2008 and 20 Aug 2008
Maruska came up with a trip which really fitted the brief, and scored at least 9 out of 10 from the participants.
Particularly excellent was Santantadibe Mobile Camp in the Okavango Delta - all ages (8-51) loved the genuinely African experience, the fact we had it all to ourselves, and the super hosting/guiding of Grant and Daphe. Well done!"

Private Mobile Camp, Botswana (this camp has since closed)
"The real deal and highlight of our trip"
We were a mixed party of ages 8 - 51 years, and it was perfect for our requirements. Grant was great with adults and kids alike - and if your party is large enough (ours was 8 persons) then you get his mother Daphne thrown in for free! They are both genuine, funny, warm and friendly people with a wealth of knowledge and some stirring tales of life in the bush - no standing on ceremony here.
The camp location was great, in trees just back from the river, popular with elephant (and hippo the first night). Apart from game drives (highlights - leopard in the grass, also following a lion padding down the road in the moonlight), enjoyed the mokoro trip and fishing (catch had for lunch!). Not so sure about the elephant and hippo charges though (not at the same time!).
A magical fascinating experience, every day was different - recommended for all ages but especially good for families."

Linyanti Bush Camp
"Rising waters are changing Linyanti"
But whereas before I guess one of the main attractions was sitting on your terrace above the plain viewing the animals, this no longer applies. And because water is everywhere now, the animals can drink anywhere and are no longer concentrated in a few spots even on the river bank.
In the bush and trees back from the river there is still good game viewing though.
The camp, in terms of staff, service and comfort, is very good (except the thermostat on the shower was particularly sensitive!). In recognition of the situation described above, our guide (Anthony - excellent) took us on a full day game drive down to Savuti, which was great and much appreciated as above and beyond his call of duty - almost our last sighting was a leopard! This was a long day though and may not suit everyone.
As the river situation is changing at the moment I'd recommend checking the latest situation with Expert Africa."
he walking trail around their game-park is a safe and gentle introduction to Africa, especially good for the younger ones in our party (ages 8 and 11). Friendly obliging owners and good food. Recommended."
