My Jun 2024 trip
Zambia between 13 Jun 2024 and 28 Jun 2024
Very friendly and relaxed experience, less commercial and crowded than Tanzania and Kenya.
Visited the Lower Zambezi and South and North Luangwa parks and especially loved North Luangwa which is still an incredibly unspoiled and wild place. A real wilderness experience !
I loved the abillity to do long walking safaris mixed with more traditional game drives and boat/canoe safaris.
Exceptional guiding and overall great game viewing with the highlight being 3 consecutive days of watching a pack of 17 wild dogs hunting/killing buffalo, waterbuck and impala."

Old Mondoro Bushcamp
"Old Mondoro Bushcamp review"
We were lucky to have a pack of 17 wild dogs in the area which had a den relatively closeby.
We were able to watch them hunting daily which was a real highlight.
We also had some wonderful night drives seeing honeybadgers, porcupines, civets, owls, and many genets. Wonderful to see so many nocturnal animals in this park.
On the flip side the canoe safari was quite boring and the lower zambezi national park is not my idea of a really wild place. Also getting a bit too crowded with other cars on occasion.
It was very cold, at times well below 10 degrees centigrade, in the mornings and evenings, yet the camp persisted in having dinner outside without any heating. Not my idea of fun to have dinner while wearing 3 layers of clothes + a coat."

Tafika
"Tafika review"
A very well operated place with a great staff.
Loved the opportunity to do walking safaris as well as game drives including evening drives to spot nocturnal animals. (servals, bushbabies, honeybadgers, side striped jackals )
The guides limit themselves to a relatively limited area of the park (camp concesion + parts of Nsefu sector) and don't venture further out unless specifically asked.
Exploring more of the park would for me be a reason to go back and/or stay longer. Otherwise, 2 days is quite enough to avoid going over the same grounds over and over again. Game density and viewing overall was great with exceptional guiding."

Mwaleshi Camp
"Mwaleshi Camp review"
This is a true bush camp in a real and unspoiled wild place.
It is designed for walking safaris and we did terrific guided walks of up to 6 hours seeing elephants, lion, buffalo, wild dogs, crocs, hippos and many other animals.
You can also do limited game drives including evening drives.
The quality of guiding is outstanding ( Moffat !!) and i learnt a tremendous amount about the bush.
Probably the best experience i have ever had while on safari."

Lilayi Lodge
"Lilayi Lodge review"
Very comfortable, excellent rooms and very good food and service !
I did a 10K walk within the confines of the park which is home to Lilayi lodge which allows you to see the many animals and birds that are resident there.
All in all what a great place !"
However, service was poor, environment extremely noisy, and rooms decidedly average."
