My May 2019 trip
Botswana between 25 May 2019 and 5 Jun 2019
The evenings and the morning game drives were much colder than we had anticipated, especially in the Kalahari Desert, so go prepared with layers of very warm clothes."

Also liked the the Kwando model of having a guide and a tracker for each truck. This was especially important for the night drives which were rather uninteresting when there was only one guide/driver searching for night-time beasts. Also Kwando camps were private concessions allowing off-road exploration and a maximum of 3 trucks per 'action site' so there was never overcrowding of the tourists or by the tourists."

Cabins in camp were widely spaced which meant privacy but a long walk if you were in the farthest cabins."

Khwai Lediba

In the public Moremi Game Reserve, there was lots of game but no off-road driving was allowed, which was disappointing in terms of getting close to some of the animals. However, in the private concession area it was very crowded around attractions with up to 11 vehicles at one time."

Plus it was freezing cold on the game drives, much colder than we had anticipated and colder than any of the other camps. But we were well-supplied with blankets and bush-babies and deserts are cold at night!
We hit pay-dirt on our first outing, seeing a lion kill at the water-hole, and the lions stayed for a couple of days so we had lots of excitement. Also found a leopard which was brilliant."
