"We spent 3 nights at Basecamp Eagle View. The views from our tent (no 4) were stunning across the plains and we regularly saw elephants and giraffes from the tent veranda. The head guide there, Derek, was extremely accommodating and his knowledge on the animals and their behaviour was second to none. We felt very privileged to have him as our guide and learnt an amazing amount in just the 3 days we spent with him.

What an amazing experience we had on safari. We saw so many animals including baby elephants, baby cheetahs and a 6 month old leopard to name but a few.

We had excellent advice from Olivia at Expert Africa who worked tirelessly with us helping us to find a camp and holiday within our budget. We could not have asked for a better holiday. One observation, however, was that the food we had at the camp was very cosmopolitan and not of a Kenyan influence which seemed a shame. We would have liked to have at least had the option to sample typical Kenyan food but nothing was offered. We were surprised to be offered pasta carbonara and spaghetti Bolognese in the middle of the Mara! Having said that, the food we had was plentiful and tasty.

Our trip through the local village of Talek was most interesting stopping at a local girls boarding school to learn about their project in Talek to keep young teenage girls in education. The local womens' Arts Centre at Basecamp near Talek was certainly worth a visit as well. Our morning out in that area was a great way to spend a few hours in the local area and gave us an insight into how the local people lived.

I cannot think of anything we would have changed on our holiday and our thanks to Olivia for her perseverance in finding us something we could afford!
