"We had a fantastic stay at Unguja Lodge.

It's a lovely location, perfect for families and all the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The accommodation is comfortable (though the girls were a little anxious about sleeping up in the rafters!).

The food was great – plenty of choice and really fresh and tasty.

We enjoyed the activities – a fascinating guided tour of the neighbouring village and a 'Robinson Crusoe' trip out to a sandbank with a snorkelling stop and an incredible seafood bbq in the middle of the Indian Ocean! We were entertained by the monkeys too.

All in all the perfect start to our holiday."

"We were upgraded to the Presidential Suite which was a lovely surprise and meant that we had plenty of space to spread ourselves out over the interconnecting rooms as well as a lovely view over the sea.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff very friendly and professional. It's in a great location – a short walk from Fordhani Gardens, Palace of Wonders and all the shops of the old quarter.

Breakfast was plentiful – lots of choice – and our 9 year-old was delighted to have the option of minute steak and chips to start the day!"

We stayed in the Castaway apartment which was really spacious and perfect for our family of four.

The highlight for my children was the chance to visit Axel's ice-cream lab – and to help him make a batch of what they described as the best ice cream EVER!"
