First Family Trip to Africa
Kenya and 1 other country between 18 Aug 2018 and 1 Sep 2018
I cannot recommend Kicheche Mara and Pongwe Beach enough - we were so sad to leave! This has been our best family holiday to date - I'm not sure how we can top it!
Thank you.
Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:
Perhaps warn travellers about Nairobi airport!
We were inundated with mosquitos there (had packed repellent) and both my husband and daughter got food poisoning from the food court!"
Feedback response
We were delighted to hear how much these travellers enjoyed their trip! But we were concerned to hear about the mosquito problem – and bad food – they experienced at Nairobi International Airport. We will certainly warn other travellers.

Kicheche Mara
"AMAZING! We didn't want to leave!"
The setting, the animals, the accommodation, the food, but most importantly, the staff, made it the most memorable family holiday.
Even after 4 days of early mornings and off roading, we could have taken more! Just fantastic."
Pongwe Beach Hotel
"Stunning Beach and Wonderful People"
Stunning white beach and beautiful clear water. Exploring the ocean bed when the tide went out, kayaking on the still waters of early afternoon then jumping in the waves in the evening - we had lots of fun.
The staff made us feel so welcome and we met some wonderful characters, by the end of the week they felt like friends. The food was fantastic and the main lounge/restaurant area a great place to relax, have a cocktail, play cards. The photos on their website do not do justice to this area of the hotel, it is much nicer than we expected.
The bungalows are right on the beach so you go to sleep to the sound of crashing waves. They are more basic than the public areas of the hotel, but are sufficient.
Highly recommend."

"Beautiful Hotel"
We ate in both the Tea House restaurant on the roof (wonderful food but probably too sophisticated for the kids) and the Secret Garden, which was our favourite area of the hotel. We enjoyed two fantastic lunches here.
One slight negative, was the noise from the shops below, which is to be expected in Stone Town, but started very early, even before the call to prayer, so we were often woken at 4am. Obviously the hotel have no control over this, but it should be kept in mind if you plan to book (the hotel did provide ear plugs!)."
All staff polite and rooms modern and clean."
