Overall experience in Tanzania
Tanzania between 9 Feb 2008 and 17 Feb 2008
"Very happy with trip. Once we were used to looking for animals in a very "green" Africa (after extended short rainy season) we enjoyed ourselves very much.
The weather was colder and wetter than expected in Ruaha and the contrast temperature in the Selous was dramatic.
Despite limitations of the Mdonya Old River Camp, this site had more atmosphere and is probably the one we would chose to visit again, if we went back to Tanzania. The hills, river valleys and varied vegetation made game/bird viewing here pleasurable and very interesting."

"Lovely location, willing/helpful staff, excellent food/choice - the promotional leaflets do not do justice to this camp, we feel they are underselling themselves.
Camp should not become any more luxurious otherwise the feeling of camping in Africa would be lost.
Roads were tricky due to rain and some areas of the reserve were inaccessible but there was still plenty of animals to see. Highlight was definitely seeing a pack of 12 wild dogs.
The river cruise was a new experience but definitely worth doing, despite the river being in flood."

Food limited and feel there should be gas backup to solar heating water for showers.
Roads, guides, drivers are very good.
Nick, Manager was understress as camp was busy and he was managing alone. Seemed unusual that he was not able to stay with guests during dinner or present during departures."
