"We had the most relaxing and enjoyable holiday of our lives, a truly magical experience we'll be telling our grandchildren about!
Huge thanks to Chris at Expert Africa for his great advice, and to Ann Lederman for her help and efficiency in booking the trip. I will be recommending Expert Africa!"

Matemwe Lodge

"Matemwe is a breath-takingly beautiful bit of coastline. The bungalows themselves are luxurious and comfortable yet they retain a very African feel. We loved the infinity swimming pool, and everything was so easily accessible - the beach, the bar, the restaurant.
The restaurant was in a very nice setting, the food was fantastic and having a choice of two dishes each evening was appreciated. Service was excellent and the managers made us feel very welcome, making a special effort for our honeymoon.
The cool breeze on that part of the coast made the heat more bearable and we especially enjoyed sitting in the swinging chair in the evening, overlooking the ocean and watching the fireflies. It's very peaceful (not a place for people who want to party), we had the most relaxing and romantic holiday - a perfect spot for honeymooners! Highly recommended."

"Another spectacular setting, and the bungalows literally took our breath away.
Each one is uniquely designed with a real Zanzibar feel, yet each one is huge, very comfortable and so different to anywhere I'd stayed before. I will never forget having an open-air shower while watching the sunset over the ocean! The family who run the resort were really friendly and made us feel very welcome.
We had some very interesting excursions including a tour of Kizimkaze (the local village) with one of the staff from the resort; a real eye-opening and humbling experience. We went to the Jozani Forest, to Zala Park and we swam with dolphins, all of which added to a truly amazing experience."

"A wonderful hotel which provides a feel of Stone Town's rich history.
The rooms would benefit from some updating (namely the air conditioning and the shower) but had a lot of charm and character. The view from the windows was lovely, and the location was perfect for walking around Stone Town.
A lovely end to a fantastic holiday."
