Trip of a lifetime
Tanzania between 21 Dec 2016 and 1 Jan 2017
"This trip far exceeded our expectations. We would go back tomorrow.
Expert Africa made planning the trip a breeze and everything they arranged for us in Tanzania was wonderful."

The Highlands
"The Highlands at Ngorongoro review"
3 nights
Arrived
22 Dec 2016
"The Highlands was a breathtakingly beautiful lodge. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome, comfortable. The rooms were incredibly comfortable with hot showers, coffee delivered every morning, fire place, and hot water bottles to keep things warm. The food was delicious (even the picnic meals!) - by far the best food we had on our trip. Eggs benedict on Christmas Eve morning while overlooking Olmoti crater from the deck was particularly nice.
The service was outstanding - everyone on staff was so kind and knowledgeable. We had a great time.
One of the afternoons we walked down to a Masai boma. This was incredibly interesting, but we did feel a little bit uncomfortable navigating negotiations with the Masai when purchasing their handicrafts. We were given the impression before hand that negotiation was customary, but it quickly became apparent that this was not the case. It would have been helpful to be a little more prepared for these interactions.
We loved hiking Olmoti and Empaki craters - this was a nice change of pace from sitting in a safari vehicle."

Olakira
"A real safari with all the comforts of home "
4 nights
Arrived
25 Dec 2016
"Olakira was more rugged than the permanent camps we visited, but still very comfortable. The staff at Olakira were so incredibly nice and fun - we really enjoyed spending time with them and learning from them! We spent three full days at Olakira and felt like we were on a real safari. The Southern Serengeti was very dusty when we visited (the rains were a month late!), but we saw the most amazing wildlife and beautiful views. This camp is what we pictured Tanzania to look like before we arrived (although we have learned that the landscape varies quite broadly!).
All of our meals were delicious and we loved the communal dining style - we met many interesting people. Christmas dinner with a traditional roast turkey and Christmas pudding and carols was particularly nice :).
We spend a lot of time chatting with Pascal. He was a great host - very nice, incredibly knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. We loved hearing the stories of the various wildlife encounters around the camp! All of the staff were great - they were so patient with our attempts to learn Swahili."

Sayari Camp
"Amazing wildlife and luxurious ammenties "
3 nights
Arrived
29 Dec 2016
"Sayari camp is beautiful with outstanding amenities. Due to some weirdness with the rains, this was also the best wild life viewing on our trip (in late December).
Our game drives were outstanding - we saw all of the big 5 and a river crossing! Everywhere we looked there were herds of animals. It was truly breathtaking. Watching herds of zebra frolick in the rain was so neat. My favorite moment was watching a giant herd of elephants cross around us, including several very small babies, as we shared sundowners and watched the sunset.
I only wish we could have cloned ourselves in order to spend more time enjoying the amenities at the hotel. We visited the pool on our last morning but wish we had more time. The rooms were lovely as well.
All our meals were delicious and the staff were so kind responding to individual requests from various guests. The New Years Eve party was a lot of fun - it was nice to have some time to get to know our guides and the other staff. We particularly enjoyed chatting with Jennifer and Richard. Elizabeth and David were so kind in teaching us Swahili and about the culture in Tanzania."

The room was very comfortable with a beautiful view. We were greeted with fresh juice and offered a hot meal even though it was quite late.
We were not able to enjoy many of the amenities as we were only there for one night, but the service was excellent."
