Fabulous trip to Namibia, plenty of memories
Namibia between 9 Nov 2007 and 25 Nov 2007
Would highly recommend sea kayaking with the seals in Walvis Bay with Jeanne, scenic flight from Swakop, Desert Tour (to find the little 5) in Swakop, Etosha, Huab Lodge, Onguma, Kulala and Soussosvlei."

Kulala Wilderness Camp, Namibia (this camp has since closed)
"Kulala Wilderness Camp review"
Easy to go to Kulala Desert Lodge by mistake - take care the distance between the two is considerable and the signage could be a lot better. The desert lodge and Litlle Kulala are well signposted, but at least from the direction we arrived, the signage for the Wilderness Camp is poor - follow Expert Africa map.
Our balloon flight was cancelled, due to weather. It is worth knowing that Kulala will contact the company in the morning and advise you what is happening."

Sea Breeze Guesthouse
"Sea Breeze Guesthouse review"
A little out of town, but not so as to cause any issues. Good to have a night watchman."

Huab Lodge
"Huab Lodge review"
The rooms are large with a fabulous view and you immediately feel at home. Huab isn't a great place for spotting game, but there is plenty to see including some game and numerous birds. Jan and the other guides are very informative without being overbearing and there is a lot you can learn from them.
A good introduction to the more northern parts of Namibia before reaching the more vibrant game in Etosha."

Ongava Lodge
"Ongava Lodge review"
Watch out for being charged for additional activities (depending on accommodation option booked) without being told about the charges until afterwards!
Great rooms, lovely view with airconditioning as a bonus. A good place to stay."

Okaukuejo Camp
"Okaukuejo Restcamp review"
It worked and the waterhole was good, but better to stay in the larger accommodation offered in the same camp. On site shop is for basics only."

Onguma The Fort
"Onguma Plains Camp review"
Good staff, although some need a little more experience, but this does not take away from the fact that they are polite, friendly and welcoming. The menu is read to you, and it can be difficult to understand accents and this can cause confusion over what is to be served. Suggestion to manager that a printed menu along with being read the items was accepted, but we were told the owner disapproved, as it took away from a personal service. The service was personal, but being confused about the food was not very good.
Very relaxing place, we could easily have stayed longer. Really lovely to be able to open the side of the room to the sunset and use the outdoor shower."

Waterberg Wilderness Lodge
"Waterberg Wilderness Lodge review"
The staff were average and although they did their job they didn't seem to empathise with the guests or add to the trip. It felt more like a military operation than a lovely place to stay. They seemed very concerned with getting you to sign for towels, cups, books, room keys and keeping to schedule rather than providing a comfortable welcoming place to stay.
The food was provided but not described well leading me to eat something I am allergic to by accident, which is not very satisfactory especially in a remote place. The guides for the walk and game drive were good, but the rest of the staff were adequate rather than helpful. Not a good place to see animals, but the view from the plateau was lovely and it is worth the (fairly easy) walk. It might be worth investigating the plateau lodge instead, as it looked slightly more intimate with chalets and plunge pools.
The pool at the wilderness lodge didn't look too clean, so we didn't use it - too many dead leaves and other bits and bobs."
