"The staff were very helpful but subdued compared with our last visit 6 years ago.

I gather Mr Mugabe is now taking a slice of the takings and guest numbers have slumped badly - we were asked to encourage people to visit. It was a shame to see a great hotel struggling against increasing odds but despite all managing to maintain its excellence."

"A very good camp at the luxury end of the market, but not suitable for game viewing apart from a walk that could be booked to see the white rhinos in the local reservation. The only 'in house' activity was a twice daily cruise along the Zambezi. Everything else was an extra charge, which added considerably to the overall cost.

The food was excellent and the service impeccable.

Not quite my idea of a bush camp, but an excellent location in which to relax."

"A complete contrast to Waterberry. Very much in the bush with two wonderful hosts and very good food.

The rooms were fairly basic and the absence of matting in the washing area meant it was necessary to put on shoes when going to the toilet at night.

That said, we came to love it and the game drives were superb with excellent guides. Catering was outstanding and we wouldn't hesitate to return there."

"Tafika is the bush camp by which the others should be judged. Outstanding in every respect it ticks all the boxes and would be difficult to fault.
