"What can we say! From the welcome at Mtemere airstrip with cold apple juice, to the game drive between the airstrip and the camp on our first morning, the exceptional and abundant food served during our whole stay, the superb service and attention to detail from Chloe, Mara and all the team on camp, the widely knowledgable and amenable guides who showed us two prides of lions, a leopard, countless elephant, giraffe, hippos, zebra, wildebeest etc and the beautiful birdlife on display and were always happy to stop or reposition for that great photo, the bushbabies outside our tent all night every night (tent no. 6!) and the elephant that paid us an early visit on the first morning we woke up in camp when he climbed out of the river right in front of our tent, the candlelit dinner for two under the stars with complimentary bubbly provided for honeymooners and the relaxed nature of the whole visit we came away with a sense of expectations exceeded on all counts!"

"We were delighted when we finally arrived at Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel after a long transfer from the airport because we received a warm welcome, our room was superb and dinner that night was great. We were, however, disappointed by dinner on our other two nights after an overcooked, rubbery fish fillet and a burnt choux pastry bun; this doesn't sound much but the resort prides itself on its exquisite cuisine and, to be frank, we had better food in the middle of the Selous Game Reserve! We were also disappointed that we were not able to take any tours during our stay as it was over a weekend and they were not running. We did, however, take an excellent sunset dhow cruise which we ended up having all to ourselves; we did some snorkelling and had some drink as we slowly cruised round the island watching the sun go down, the highlight of our stay. Honeymooners/couples beware - this is a family friendly resort and we had to put up with the highpitched whining of an American girl for our entire stay!"

"We were a little disappointed with the condition of our room following our stays at Selous Impala Camp and Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel; it was clean but looked like it could do with some renovation work and our mosquito net did not provide enough protection as it struggled to cover the whole bed! The decor of the hotel in general was great, very traditional and there is a pool but we did not have time to use it. The location of the hotel is perhaps its best asset - we only had one afternoon and evening in Stone Town but were able to pop back to our room at various points to drop off shopping, use the toilet etc because it was right in the midst of everything else. We were also delighted to be able to get a light breakfast at 5.30am before our airport transfer for our flight home."
