Travel at times rather hot and tiring but just had to be got through!
People on the whole were lovely and guides very good.
We would go back to Botswana again, maybe to other camps."

Linyanti Bush Camp
"Linyanti Camp"
Amazing setting and wonderful bird sightings. Enjoyed seeing many species (lots of elephants- 60+, zebra, giraffe, kudu, impala, buffalo 300+, african wildcat, baboon, warthog) including a rare sighting of an aardvark on a night drive. Tracks are very bumpy so worth knowing if you do suffer from a dodgy back.
All in all a wonderful spot, Mopane woodlands reminded me of beech woods -very beautiful.
Small no. of other guests made it a very personal stay.
It would be a good idea to give prospective guests an idea of how far it is from the nearest airstrip ie about 1.5 hours. If I had been travelling there direct from UK that same day it would have been really tiring as it was a bumpy drive. Just travelling that day from J'burg after 2 planes trips already was quite enough!"

Shinde Camp
"Shinde Camp"
Only one adverse comment and that was the staff in charge, Rian and Winnie. Their hospitality felt quite "forced" and we felt rather regimented. On arrival after a hot trip what I most wanted was a cold drink and the loo! I did not appreciate a long talk about Ker and Downey and their other camps - all too much "marketing"!
On our last day the time of transfer changed 3 times - as it was originally going to be at 10 so we decided to forego a early game drive and relax and catch up a bit, when it changed to a later time we were made to feel it was somehow inconvenient for THEM for us to be still there.
Other guests also felt they were not the most skilled hosts so I would have some reservations about recommending what is otherwise a great place."

Shinde Footsteps
"Walking at Footsteps"
Most surreal moment was having a shower out of doors in the dark with the hippos grunting in their pool jsut a few yards away.
Tents are not as luxurious as other camps but we had expected that.
What I would say about the walking for guests to be aware of is that although not a "route march" it is quite tiring walking through very sandy terrain after several hours as the day heats up. There are frequent stops though. A really different and worthwhile part of our trip, seeing animals on foot."

Avani Victoria Falls
"Vic Falls"
Quite odd to bump into semi tame zebra around the hotel grounds after the previous week too!
Enjoyed seeing the Falls but be aware for a good view you need to traverse the border to Zimbabwe. Cost $55 per person for Visas and the customs formalities and hassle of street sellers are best avoided by having a guided tour another $55 per person."
Food and drinks and service all fine.
Only small difficulty with all the building work at the airport in finding the shuttle bus stop as the signage temporary and confusing"
