"Fantastic trip. So pleased with what we saw and experienced.
We got great advice from Megan to go to Chitabe if we liked leopards!"

"Wow!"

"The wildlife viewing and the luxury accommodations are just incredible here. The camp is beautiful and we saw so much! 4 different leopards (including two extended sitings of different females), Wild dogs (twice), many Lion. Elephants playing in the water.
Our guide (Duke) was incredibly talented and had a great sense of humor. When we had a trainee in the vehicle with us though, he and Duke would speak extensively to each other in Setswana, which was occasionally frustrating. Also, Duke would sometimes leave sitings we were enjoying without fully explaining why.
Food was delicious and the camp was very conscientious about my gluten-free diet. The rooms were the nicest we had in Botswana.
Was not thrilled with one of the camp managers. Ruby seemed to not like her job very much and actually we left the camp with her still owing us $4 change from a gift shop purchase that she couldn't be bothered to handle. She didn't handle questions well and I fear she may be in the wrong line of work."

Lagoon Camp
"Lagoon Camp review"

"Lagoon camp was beautiful, and we really appreciated the way the guides tried to keep up with the wild dogs. That was exhilarating and a highlight of our overall trip. The boat trip we took was pleasant as well.
One camp manager, Chawa was excellent, the other, BK was not. The camp employees spoke in Setswana to each other constantly. Around the fire before dinner, in the vehicles, at meals. At times around the fire, guests were sitting silently and employees were having animated conversations in Setswana. The staff also wanted things done their way and were not relaxed about guests doing their own thing (about things as small as where you sat for meals).
They did do a good job on the gluten free diet."

Lebala Camp
"Lebala Camp review"
3 nights
Arrived

"We saw so many lion here! Was a bit frustrating not to see the wild dogs in our three days here, but we did see them once in Lagoon. I would say the guides here were not quite as good, in terms of working as a team across all the vehicles. That made it harder to find animals compared to say Chitabe where there were multiple vehicles in constant contact about animal locations. In Lagoon, our driver seemed only to be in contact with one other driver, even though there were usually 4 vehicles out at any time.
Again, one camp manager, OP was terrific and the other, BK ( a different BK than at Lagoon) was not. This camp was also the scariest when it came to my gluten-free diet. For one example at a dinner, the starter was put in front of me and the server told me, "I don't know if you can take this or not". It was just harder to figure things out dietarily here."

Compared to the other camps we visited (Chitable Lediba, Lagoon, Lebala) the rooms and public areas were more basic. The shower alternated between scalding and freezing with no possibility of a pleasant equilibrium.
Guide and tracker (Josiah and Kelly) were amazing. Talented, dedicated, knowledgeable,
Camp management had its ups and downs. They wanted things done their way at their time and were not relaxed about guests doing their own thing. They were very conscientious about my gluten-free diet though and I really appreciated that."
