My Feb 2014 trip
Botswana and 1 other country between 27 Feb 2014 and 8 Mar 2014
"Overall we had a great trip. Camps were well run. Staff were sensitive to our needs and preferences. They were also flexible enough to divide our group into different activities to match the preferences within our party. For example, on one occasion four of us went out on the boat fishing while two were taken on a guided walk to study the medicinal uses of the flora.
There was sometimes the sense of being over programmed and not given enough time to ourselves.
We very much enjoyed our walking safaris and could have done more of those.
In conclusion the trip was excellent and no small thanks to Expert Africa and Maruska in particular for helping to organize this trip. Maruska was extremely patient, diligent and made sure that she understood what we were looking for. Nothing was too much for her. She is also very personable and pleasant. Thank you Maruska and Expert Africa"

"Accommodation was very good. Not as luxurious as Kwando but better than Kwara and totally comfortable.
Food was best of the three camps.
Staff was very accommodating and enthusiastic.
Sometimes the staff were too solicitous i.e. wanting to be so helpful that they did not leave one with any space and it could be a bit claustrophobic - but that is but a small criticism in the context of being very well treated."

"We found the Victoria Falls in general a culture shock after being in the unspoilt uncommercialised world of the Botswana concessions. We felt somewhat gouged by high single entry entrance fees to the Falls. The falls are in themselves totally spectacular and no disappointment.
The environs have become touristy and expensive. It is difficult to cross the border into Zambia without a big cost. The zone needs to become more tourist friendly so that people will want to stay there.
Ilala Lodge was okay. The internet did not work very well. The reception staff were not consistently pleasant and helpful. The dining staff were mostly very nice and the breakfasts were very good."

Guide was experienced and knowledgeable.
Camp was efficiently run.
Staff attentive to our needs.
Vehicles were good - Toyota land cruisers with no more than two people per row and no overhead cover. This made for the best visibility"
